Players had a crack, skill and polish the main difference, hopefully gives the club a chance of drafting another great player before McKay is bidded on, we need top quality talent…
We have accumulated some decent role players in recent times Halfpenny the latest addition to the list. We have an excellent engine room, but need some upgrades at either end, particularly some with leg speed.

Season Positives

  • Keeley Sherar - should win the B&F as clearly as Cripps won the Brownlow. Great in traffic and is really the only player we have that could be considered in the top 25 of the competition.
  • Meg Robertson showed signs that she will be able to develop into a reliable player.
  • Maddy Guerin getting through a full season will hopefully see her injury woes behind her for the back half of her career. Can play!
  • Ciara Fitzgerald improved the longer the season went and is more comfortable at the level.
-Jade Halfpenny showed a bit in the last couple of games and I’m happy to keep her on the list
  • Abbie McKay a consistent performer when playing but in such a short season she missed a few games.
  • Harriet Cordner will be 2nd to Sherar and had a great season.

Season Negatives

  • Persisting with 3 rucks that fumble so much ball below their hips made us too easy to rebound and score against. Brea Moody’s worst season….let her ruck and run all over the ground and find some skilful key forwards in the draft.
  • Burning pick 7 on Keck rather than getting Mikayla Williamson. Hope she realises there is nothing to celebrate if she can’t get near it. Less social media exposure from the club until she earns it.
  • Mimi Hill seemed to have lost her dare and would handball “hot potato” to teammates in trouble more than use her legs to drive through contact.
  • DV and JDP not being able to impact games for longer than a few minutes.
  • Injuries to Vickers, Duursma, Fitzpatrick took away running power and speed across all lines.
  • Skill level below knees needs serious work.

Overall footy IQ, players that possess a better combination of the standard of ability and skill required, leg speed along with creating and executing a POD in your role as a player and teammate we are lacking, some good kids coming through but compared to other clubs there’s a obvious difference…
