And both were great servants of the club & top footballers. They also wanted to win a 🏆.

... and they actually played in Port Premierships, not that it is the sole factor for consideration. Gavin Wanganeen also played in Port Premierships but from all accounts he turned out to be a 'yes' man.

I was a member of the PAFC for almost 50 years and in that time I had never heard of most of this current Board. The first I ever heard of David Koch was when I switched my TV on one morning and he was guesting on the breakfast show as a financial analyst. I have made the point before I know, but in the golden era most Port Board Members had served the Club in a playing and or an official capacity for several years before they were elected to the Board. They knew the Club inside out. I suspect that nowadays the majority of Board Members are secondments put forward by the current Board and endorsed by the AFL. The only chance Members have of adding a subversive element is via the two Member elected representatives which is why we must get it right.

What good reason would the powerbrokers have for not legislating a return to full member control with the board within the next say 5-10 years?

It comes down to one thing - Accountability

Right now they all get to set their own KPI's, define what success is and are beholden to nobody (the VFL don't care, as long as the club doesn't require handouts and is a net positive for TV rights).

The 'it'll be a board of ex-footballers' is bullshit. If it was open to Members you'd get tickets formed, where it'd be footballer(s), along with those with other skills. Even if it was that board of all ex-footballers (which would never happen), they aren't going to turn around and appoint footballers to manage finances, marketing etc.

Kathy Nagle is still the CEO on the Western Hospital website. Their web site obviously needs updating or I need to get the latest WH web page. Last I heard the Western Hospital was in receivership .....
Yes, they are in receivership. They've got no money and have made everyone not essential to the running of the place redundant. Who do you think is going to update their website? Updating the website wouldn't event make EY's list of things to do.

It seems like our best chance at the moment is for Koch, Restas et al to want to step down as a group in the next 5 years or so then as a group they decide that the members should have full voting power. Effectively we need Koch to think he's being some sort of benevolent saint who will be remembered for years for giving the club back to it's members.

He's certainly not going to make the same sort of sacrifices that Duncanson and Haysman did to fix the club's issues.

Last I heard the Western Hospital was in receivership which is pity. They probably have a bunch of accountants running the place in anticipation of a white knight on the horizon. It is a sad state of affairs for sure.

No their website needs refreshing. She’s gone (resigned). I went there a couple of weeks for a yearly check up and overheard that news. My cousin who’s a doctor heard that news aswell and plus the GP sent me a letter through the mail a couple months back stating that some company that deals with voluntary admin forgot the name is running the hospital and their trying to find buyers.

I also heard a rumour and I’m not sure it’s true, so take this with a pinch of salt but if admin can’t find any buyers they might turn the hospital into a hotel.

My uninformed guess is then he was the lone guy pushing shit uphill (getting rid of Hinkley). With Warren clearly in that camp, perhaps he's thinking if there are two of them, it won't be so easy to ignore them. Especially if both are on the football committee. If you get both the actual successful footballers recommending ditching Ken early in 2025 when a rough patch is hit, not so easy if it's just 'Oh that's crazy Warren. Just wave a face mask near him and he'll run away', so they can ignore his football acumen.
Even better can we please get some actual current players recommending ditching Ken early in 2025 😂

This has all been public knowledge since January this year. The administrators are EY, one of the big four, hardly just "some company". There is a very good chance that a buyer will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks.

As for turning the building in to a hotel, Western Hospital sold the building some years ago and are just the tenant. The owner may decide to try and turn it into a hotel if it is no longer viable as a hospital but I can't see that being financially viable. The QVH was successfully turned into apartments but that had good views over the parklands. Not sure a hotel in the back blocks of Henley Beach would be particularly attractive.

Anyways, this is all off topic. We should be discussing Italian football.

From what I've seen at the AGMs this is zero chance of happening

Um ok I forgot the name and b) who cares like and I’m speaking for myself here but as long as the hospital and GP stay. I really don’t care. I’m only telling info that I have heard.

I'm not a member anymore so cant go or say anything myself, but can somebody please ask the question:

"David Koch, Cos Cardone, Jamie Restas and Kevin Osborne have all been on the clubs board over a dozen years.

Key Club employees Ken Hinkley, Matthew Richardson and Chris Davies have had similar tenure.

Good Company governance suggests that board members should remain on the board for a period of between 2-6 years.

This club has not made a Grand Final since 2007. It is the worst onfield era the club has ever had. This regime seems to have a back slapping, near enough is good enough, don't rock the boat, just happy being here attitude that is both stale and the antithesis of what this club has always been about.

This question has been asked at the last 2 AGM's but has been blankly dead batted away by David Koch like it isn't important. In my view, getting this club back into club members hands is the most vital agenda item this club must undertake. This will make the club accountable. Again, like in the last 2 years the question has been asked, the Crows are allowed to have a fully elected board by 2028, are we doing anything about making this happen for us? Or is accountability, like Finals a "Scary" concept?

Totally agree.

Having an unelected Chairman hand picking his own Board members does not bode well for competence and transparency.

The GP Clinic, like the Oncology dept (which had a buyer fall through) and Cafe is being sold separately to the Hospital.

And to keep on topic, maybe we don't want Kathy Nagle anywhere near the club anymore. Optics can be bad enough with a major sponsor that seems to have issues with paying his staff, do we want a board member that was the CEO of a hospital that was potentially trading while insolvent for years?

But that depends on if she'd even nominate. Did she pull out last year because she wanted to focus more on trying to rescue the Hospital, or just to stay out of the public eye?

I have absolutely no confidence in the club and pretty well anyone at or closely associated with the club to affect meaningful change.

A player could sign a ten year contract but if he changes his mind we will bend over and accept it.

I fully expect that if we are in the eight at the bye Kenny will get an extension that will be announced in the finals.

We could change the game plan but where is that coming from. There are no new outside voices to add anything.

Part of the joy of this time of year is about selling hope for next year.

I see none though. Nada. Nil.

Might enjoy some individual efforts and an out of the box Sydney 100 point where did that come from win but can't see how we won't be here again in exactly the same place twelve months on.

And the club is happy with that.

Dissenting voices within the club may exist or may not but no real change is happening as far as I can see.

Bring in and accept accountability David Chris and Matthew.

Absolutely throughly agree Kathy shouldn’t be anywhere near the club.

She had her time and I don’t like giving people second chances. We got to be constantly fresh and innovative.

It seems we are flogging a dead horse.

Take note of the sentence I underlined.

Good grief!
They are clueless.
Totally clueless.
We are royally ****ed - with no hope, no joy, no passion, no anticipation.
Our head honchos are stale, tired, predictable, risk averse, backslapping, underachieving, self satisfied dolts.
