To be fair to other candidates:

Christopher FITRIDGE
I am writing to express my candidacy for a position on the Board of Directors of the Port Adelaide
Football Club. As a loyal and passionate member since 1997, I have been through all the highs and
lows with this wonderful club.
My background as a Chartered Accountant equips me with many skills that I believe will be of
benefit to the Board; together with my passion for the club will be a great recipe for progressing our
club.
I believe with a new generation of supporters coming through, and the ever-changing landscape
of supporting a football club the club must listen to these stakeholders and harness these
relationships to build a rich future.
Transparency is paramount in my vision for the club, ensuring that all members and fans are
involved in creating a vibrant and supportive environment for all stakeholders.
I am enthusiastic about sustainability and responsible governance. I see this club as a leader in
the community and it is currently doing a wonderful job with its outreach programs, which I hope
continues.
If I am successful in securing a position on the board, I look forward to working together with other
board members, members, supporters, and players, to ensure that the Port Adelaide Football Club
can go back to what it has done for the last 150 years, that is winning Premierships.
Feel free to email me at X with any questions that you may have.
Thank you for considering my candidacy.
Christopher Fitridge

Previous
• Director, The Paraplegic and Quadriplegic Association of SA (2017-2024)

AFL football experience, governance, leadership, strategy, financial and business acumen
I have completed three years as a member-elected Director of the Port Adelaide Football Club and
offer myself for re-election, which I hope is supported by members.
During the term I believe I have made a positive contribution to all aspects of our strategic
direction, with a particular focus on on-field performance and financial sustainability.
The club is in good shape on and off field.
We have been AFL finalists in recent years and are in a strong financial position (record
membership, surpluses, healthy balance sheet, good facilities) and I would like to continue as a
director, to add my voice to all aspects of our continual improvement and growth.

Hi,
I am Christopher Fitridge, one of the board election candidates.

You can be rest assured that fans and members are at the forefront of my action plan, and will have your best interests in my decision making with the board. Fans and members are the most important stakeholder in any football club.

I would appreciate your vote. My email address is on my Candidate Statement if you have any questions.

Thanks
Thanks for putting your hand up, and good luck with the voting.

Wow. Good work dude.

Snowdon's statement is super uninspiring.
I saw him in the post-game throng after the AFLW EF and honestly, the bloke looked 1000 years old.

So unfairly or otherwise, based on those optics and that extremely bland, uninspiring statement he released, it's George all the way for me.

Snowden would have to be one of the most disappointing member elected board members of all time. Promised much, then drank the cool aid.

I thought Tredders anti vax stance might stop him from drinking from the same fountain, but the jury is out on that one...

Thanks Christopher. Can you expand on what you think the club needs to do to engage a "new generation of supporters"?

Thank you for your message.

In terms of the new generation, we have a women's team who is doing wonderfully, and we need to harness these new fans of our football club, with the family environment that the women's football brings. If we can transition this family environment to the men's and the whole club, one big family, we can make sure this club is successful.

Also, in this new age of social media etc, rightly or wrongly, we consume our information in different ways, and the board being more transparent with fans, our number one stakeholder, is paramount.

I am a fan first and foremost, and want our voices heard at board level.

If you'd just written "Sack Hinkley" you would have instantly got the vote of every bigfooty Port poster outside Expat and Janus.

Thank you for your nomination I have been a supporter, then a member for more decades than I care to remember.

A couple of questions please.

Do you have a copy of DYNASTY?

Do you have a copy of Fos William's The Creed?

Do you believe, read in it's entirety, the contents of The Creed are as relevant today as they were when penned by Fos?

Thank you.

Just a heads up - if you are eligible to vote and haven't received your email from CorpVote yet, check your junk mail folder. Mine went there last night when the email was sent out at 10.13pm and only saw it about 15 minutes when i checked my junk mail folder.

From George's statement.

I know everyone associated with the PAFC wants premiership success, having played in an extremely successful period I understand it is not one person who can achieve this but a whole of club philosophy.
The mantra that made us successful was “Players win the ball, Teams win games and Clubs win premierships” I have adopted this philosophy in business and at football clubs.

Fos said this over 50 years ago. Koch in some speech I heard him give around the time of 150th anniversary dinner, said an American sports team had said teams win games and organisations win championships. I wrote to Richo and said look at our website and you will see Fos' words being used to raise funds for the Premiership Fund. I wrote that he should point David to that page.

From George's facebook page. Tim held this old sign up (that he saved from being thrown out when there was a big clean out of club stuff in the 90's as we got into the AFL) when he gave a talk to our inaugural women's squad in mid 2022.

If Snowdon is unsuccessful here he could get a job at the Labor party with this level of campaigning.

We have the most hated coach in league history but let's putter along with the status quo. Everything is fine, good even.

I'd buy some of these old signs for my home gym if they did reruns.

I think this is a bit of a poisoned chalice vote.

We get to pick 1

1) Retain the only director who has worked in a footy department
2) Vote in a former player whose pitch can be summarised as focus on footy, listen to fans
3) Vote in a third (!) accountant to the board.

If we go with 1, we will probably keep the status quo. If we go with 2, we will also probably keep the status quo, and be seen as numpties who can't be trusted with voting on the board because we only vote in former players or 3 we invent a fresh new hell of status quo with added zoomer memes.

2 is the frustration vote, and there sure are a lot of frustrated members at the moment, I don't know if it does the footy club any good.

Honestly, it's possibly the least inspiring three choices that I've seen, but George is probably the best option.

Why can't anyone run with this agenda:

  • Invest in football operations, attract the best talent (read between the lines - stop the ****ing nepo garbage)
  • Hold staff accountable for performance + we exist to win premierships
  • Member board control

That's it. That's the ticket.

No one stopping you from nominating for next election. Buy a membership and run. Don't talk - DO!!.

But you will be up against Tredders, if he runs again.
