I dunno I think I kind of like the fact they dont look at stats, means the cheapy stat padder types are less likely to poll crazily and we all know stats aren't everything

A quote from the Today show interview this morning (https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1r9BFjt8yzwjatyc/):
"I was chatting to a few of the boys last night... 'How good would it be to share this moment when we've all won something?'"

Man, I want this guy to win a premiership. I've said it before, but I can't recall anyone in football who has personified the idea of pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps as much as he has. As an individual player he's gone from good to great to elite; as a leader he's pulled a club off the canvas, through multiple overhauls, and into two finals series.

Hard to believe that anyone is so sour to think he isn't deserving of individual recognition. All I hope for him is that he gets his wish, and gets to have a moment with his team where everyone has won something.

Congrats, Crippa the Skipper

2. In regards to Dustys 2017 season, Dusty won everything. Brownlow, MVP, Coaches award, AA, B&F, Gary Ayers award, NS and flag. Cripps did not even achieve half of those things this season.

Dusty has no place in this thread, take it to the Richmond Board!

‘Congratulations Patrick Cripps Dual Brownlow Medallist’ 🥈

Dusty's 2017 was the best individual season in modern times before this year. I think the sheer weight of votes though...45 just blows everything else out of the water.
Dusty literally won the Tigers the premiership that year while taking every accolade available to him. More Brownlow votes will never ever mean more than that.

A few things with this.

1. Apparently the AFL as of the 2023 season stopped allowing the umpires to view the stats sheets after games. Consequently Neale 2023 (a surprising winner who didn’t make the AA team) and Cripps 2024 (due to sheer amount of votes) are the most recent winners and both caused controversy.

This to me and many others seems a little too coincidental to say this change wasn’t a factor and as such made the Brownlow more of a popularity contest. As the better known players will catch the eye of the umpires. I’m not trying to discredit Cripps’s Brownlow or anything, I think it’s well deserved but we can’t ignore the fact he got 3 votes for games that were ridiculous. I believe he got 3 votes for a 19 dis and 0 goal game and didn’t even poll any coaches votes.

It wasn’t just Cripps either, same thing happened with Daicos. So something has changed drastically with how the umpires are voting imo anyway.

It’s up to you if you think more Brownlow votes outweighs all those other achievements. I personally don’t, but it’s all subjective 👍
No one cares about Dusty on this thread ,its all about our boss man Crippa so toddle off

We’ve just got to keep pumping up Patty for his achievement last night.

I find it staggering that people continue to spew rubbish about him not being a worthy winner because some other player didn’t get as many votes as they deserved or he polled in games where Carlton lost or he polled in games where he didn’t deserve a vote. That’s the history of the Brownlow Medal and it’s celebrating 100 years.

I love the game of footy above all else. My respect and admiration for the current and past players is not limited to those who only played for Carlton. I’ve been a footy tragic for 6 decades and I’ll talk to my kids (and anybody else that will listen) about the greats of the game. So don’t come on here and talk down our Patty. It’s not appreciated.

Cripps spoke well last night. Thought his response to questions on Voss were pretty interesting.
I didn’t think so after the CFC interview afterwards. Said he loves playing under Vossy and is a great leader of men. What was interesting in the CFC interview was that he said “we’re not far but very far. Need to get boys more consistently on the park and then anything can happen”.

That’s a jab on Russell if anything.

Gotta love Cripps. Such a consistent season. All others had flat spots. Naicos had 1 vote from the first 5 rounds and it was effectively all over. Heeney fell away at the end. Butters / Greene in the middle. Cripps just never had a flat spot.

And he didn't even need his brother's votes!

I felt a bit for TDK. Was my clear BOG against cats where he got only 1 vote. Dominated against GC for zero votes.

The Ess game was a strange one.

Coaches voted TDK a 10 yet he got zero brownlow votes. Crippa got 2 from objectively his worst games of the year (zero coaches votes) and Elijah 3 votes for his 3 goals. TDK lead the team for disposals and clearances - zero votes.

I love Crippa but even I can admit that 2 votes vs. Ess was off. But who cares? Winners are grinners.

I doubt it. He was a big fan of Russell - and he is definitely not the type to have a jab at people in such a petty way.

I think he was just acknowledging that if we could keep our best team on the field for more than 5 minutes we'd be a real chance at the flag. Imagine peak Curnow, TDK, Walsh, Crippa, Harry, Weiters all in the same team and in top form for a whole season!

Availability is everything in today’s football, you take a handful of the best out of any team for extended periods and it takes a massive toll.

Our most important recruit this offseason is Innes by the length of the Flemington straight

Remember Liam Pickering questioning Crippa because he thought that he didnt give enough support to (Pickering's client) David Teague?

How stupid does Pickering's look know. Cripps has won two Charlie's since Teague left.
