YellowFeathers for one.Who is hating on him? It's just being pointed out that 45 votes is farcical.
We need the return of the full forward kicking bags of goals! Then we’ll see the votes start to spread
Gary Ablett kicked 10 goals or more TWICE in 1993 and didn't get a vote.
You are going hard as tonight mate. Don't strain yourself.Just a friendly reminder, that the AFL sacked an umpire not to long ago, for being part of a Brownlow medal betting scandal, involving bets and leaking insider information. Given some very questionable votes tonight, or lack of votes. The fans trust in umpires and the Brownlow is more and more eroded. One can't help to think if any of the current umpires have mates put on a sneaky bet for them money wise at the start of the year?. Been some very questionable voting in some games across the last 3 or so seasons. If one umpire was able to almost get away with it....
The coaches gave TDK 10 Cripps 0Always the odd one but tdk was a champion data thing he wasn't as impactful as the numbers said
So it’s the fairest award and not the bestUmps probably stop giving him votes after he got suspended
need to take the votes away from the umpires and give it to coaches.
He doesn't effectively have the best season ever.People having a genuine discussion on a voting system that is obviously flawed is melting now apparently.
No one cares that Cripps won, he deserves it, the fact he won it by so much and now effectively has the best season in history is a farce.
The whole thing was inflated, not just Cripps. Multiple players on that leaderboard had way more votes than their influence deserved including daicos who somehow polled votes in a game where his influence was well below average. In this day and age of AI and pretty remarkable Champion data stats that calculates influence on games, should call for a change to how the votes are tallied. You can't seriously think that whoever has the highest Brownlow vote total in a season had the best season in history. The numbers are meaningless and just reflect a whole heap of factors that have nothing to do with individual performance like how good your teammates are, how good your team is, what position you play etc etc. Comparing totals across seasons means nothing
AFLCA award list was almost identical to the Brownlow...need to take the votes away from the umpires and give it to coaches.
Meek was huge for us all year and a major reason we made finals. Will get a lot of B & F votes, 0 Brownlow.
Apparently we massively exceeded literally all expectations just because of Newk.
Why do you hate Europe so much. Do they really deserve him.F/O back to Europe rompings.
Because he won us them all himself, Walsh had a poor season outside of a good patch when we looked great thumping port and geelong and Cerra was too busy popping hammys to play midfield. It was the cripps show which is why they fell away from last years efforts, no support.

What changes could possibly be made to the voting that would eliminate the things I have mentioned being factorsWhich is exactly why the voting needs to be changed lol.
You can't compare playing under the roof at Marvel to a wet Friday night at the MCG or a game at the 'Rat or Alice but I like the ideaWhat would work is if they gave out votes across the round, not per game.
Very difficult to do, but it would stop situations where teams with one dominant player see that player get disproportionately high number of votes.
To poll well, you need to be best across the league that week. Very hard to do though, prob a futile exercise.
Not at all.Which is exactly why the voting needs to be changed lol.
Cripps got the most votes in history at the premier AFL BnF award by far, in any case that should mean he had the best season in history.

Brownlow Leaderboard
P Cripps 45
North Melbourne 43
Rest of Carlton 42
N Daicos 38
West Coast 30
Rest of Collingwood 30
11 other players 29-20
Richmond 19
I immediately said to my partner (I have a gf unlike you) that she had cooked it with that commentYep, legitimately cooked and you could see him come to the realisation of what she said.
Exactly - so comparing across seasons is meaningless. There is never going to be a perfect system and Champion Data is certainly not it imo. We have a coaches award and a players award as well. All of them are flawed in some wayThe whole thing was inflated, not just Cripps. We can't just keep following an ancient means of tallying votes just because it's tradition.
Fyfe had a better season in 2015. Arguably 2019.
But Carlton are a dumpster fire. No A graders to take votes off Cripps.
