AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Swans played back to back GF’s and then were gifted Heeney in the draft with no father son link for memory
Not sure about that. I thought the new rules were just related to academy and not FS - which is what Ashcroft is.They do. From their academy.
If the new rules for 2025 were in place for this year, they wouldn't be able to get them both.
How convenient for them.
Yes. I'm probably wrong, but I thought the limit was only academy? All under the same rules now
Whether its FS or Academy. The points index and discounts will be all one and the same.
Yes, but that doesn't necessitate one set of limits for both groups.Until the new rules came in. Clubs wanted one rule for all and not separate.
So FS. NGA. Academy will be all under the one system. One points index and discount
Jen, how does going into deficit impact, is it your future draft hand and how?It will all come down to points. Only way to get multiple top prospects whether its FS or Academy (if you dont have enough points) is going into deficit.
Unfortunately, because it is not their money, football boards have had no qualms in future administrations’ capital. When the chickens come home to roost it’s someone else’s problem - Exhibit 1: Carlton. It will all come down to points. Only way to get multiple top prospects whether its FS or Academy (if you dont have enough points) is going into deficit.
Basically comes out of your Future handJen, how does going into deficit impact, is it your future draft hand and how?
Thanks Jen, that makes senseBasically comes out of your Future hand
Say if next years draft, we go over the points (we wont) for a 1st round bid. If you have pick 1 in 2026 if you have a bad year and in deficit, your pick could be pick 2 or 3 depending how much over you are in depth.
That’s not what he’s talking about I think.Until the new rules came in. Clubs wanted one rule for all and not separate.

Thats true, that rule does exist. And no, that specific one doesn't apply to FS.That’s not what he’s talking about I think.
There’s a rule in place that Northern Academy clubs can only select a certain amount of players depending on where they finish on the ladder, ie if they finish top 4 they can only match 1 bid.
As far as I can tell this isn’t, and will not ever be a rule for FS due to the inconsistent nature of actually gaining quality FS players.
Who’s the Whitlock brother that plays in the backline? I reckon he is the better of the two.So assuming we’re going into the draft with the pick we get for Noble (let’s call it pick 20), who are we drafting?
If none of Jobe Shanahan, Jack Whitlock, and Jonty Faull are available, then I wouldn’t mind taking a stab on Cooper Hynes and Jesse Dattoli.

I’ve personally spoken with Mark Brown (I’ve known Mark for nearly 20 years and live in the same town) who has been the Murray Bushrangers head coach since 2018. He tells me that the Whitlock twins are highly talented and both are excellent marks taking the ball at its highest point. He also expects them to fill out beautifully due to the shape of their frames compared with say the King brothers who are tall and narrow and will never have an imposing physique. I’d be delighted if we could snag at least one of the WhitlocksI asked my contact who does this for a living about the Whitlocks and his response was "they're tall", that doesn't fill me with confidence. I'm am far from an expert on talent but I know people who are very, very good. I'm just telling you what I was told.
Their frames remind me of the McKay twins more than the King twins. Both look far better prospects than Ben McKay did in his draft year when Norf reached for him in the early 20’s.I’ve personally spoken with Mark Brown (I’ve known Mark for nearly 20 years and live in the same town) who has been the Murray Bushrangers head coach since 2018. Don't know which one plays where. Just heard that Jack is the more talented twin.Who’s the Whitlock brother that plays in the backline? I reckon he is the better of the two.
That would be Matt. He plays defence, but can play forward too.Who’s the Whitlock brother that plays in the backline? I reckon he is the better of the two.
Either one jen. It's time to develop some genuine talls. We need to take a puntThat would be Matt. He plays defence, but can play forward too.
Even though they say Jack is the more talented one. But I think Matt can be as good, but he's the one that will fall a little bit behind his brother.
They said the same with Max King over Ben. Max might be a better contested mark, but Ben can play at both ends and would be closer to an AA talent down back. That would be Matt. He plays defence, but can play forward too.
