Yeah fair enough about Touk Miller. He obviously had the contested game from the start. Was more highlighting it can be done as that smaller mid in the modern game.

Plus, Murphy Reid is not afraid of the contest by any stretch, does some of his best work in a phone box too. He's got enough tricks and clean skills to make it IMO. He probably doesn’t make it to us anyway does he? Cant see him getting through Melbourne and Richmond let alone interstate teams before us.

Would love to see these CP stats from drafts gone by. Would make an interesting read.

Had a very long winded post written up, but my internet died and I lost it. Mofra sort of said it though.

Another point I haven't seen mentioned is that his defensive game should concern us. I've watched him live enough and think his defensive game is about as bad as Jackson Macrae. Intent is poor and is not the best tackler. Averaged just 2.3 tackles a game in the Coates league.

Will be a good player, just not convinced he's the best fit for us.

That would be a dreamy draft but with our 1st, it most likely will be a choice of Hynes or Hannaford, can't see Hannaford making it through till pick 25-29( matched bids).

That and his speed. For a player his size running nearly a 3.2 20m isn't great.

Prefer Ough as an inside mid has a far bigger ceiling.

I would like Hannaford but I feel he's a reach at 17. He'll still likely be there at 25.
Davidson would likely go before 48.
If to go for another KPD it's someone that is good 1v1.
Rather take a ruck as a rookie than in the draft.

WHERE THE BIDS ARE SET TO COME​

Reigning premier Brisbane is set to avoid paying top dollar for father-son gun Levi Ashcroft, with Richmond looking increasingly unlikely to place a bid on the midfielder at No. 1 in this month’s national draft.

If North Melbourne keeps hold of pick 2, a bid on Ashcroft may be left to Carlton at pick 3 — saving the Lions a significant number of draft points.

Brisbane would have to stump up 2,400 points (after a 20 per cent discount) to match a bid on Ashcroft at pick 1, but a bid at pick 3 would only cost it 1787 points.

It could be the difference between heading into next year with a points deficit or not, given the Lions will also need to match a bid on Academy member Sam Marshall around pick 20.

Clubs expect two other bids to be placed on Academy members within the top-10 selections on draft night, with St Kilda favoured to bid on Gold Coast Suns Academy member Leo Lombard with one of its first two selections.

The Saints (picks 7 and 8) and Melbourne (pick 9) have also been linked to placing an early bid on Essendon Next Generation Academy (NGA) member Isaac Kako.

Carlton will be sweating on whether a bid comes for father-son Ben Camporeale before its second selection at No. 38, with recruiters having the South Australian midfielder either just before or just after that pick on their draft boards.

Twin brother Lucas is expected to come into play later in the order.

St Kilda NGA member Adrian Cole is considered likely to attract a bid in the late 30s or early 40s, after St Kilda’s third selection which currently stands at No. 32.

Giants Academy ruckman Logan Smith is also set to come into calculations at that range, with a bid in the 30s considered a good chance.

Some clubs believe Sydney Swans Academy defender Joel Cochran could attract a bid anywhere from pick 25 onwards, with one scout saying the Swans had done “a good job of hiding him away”.

Cochran won the 2km time trial at the national draft combine last month.

Another St Kilda NGA member, defender Lennox Hofmann, is expected to receive a bid later in the draft, while Hawthorn NGA midfielder Cody Anderson is also said to have “lots of fans” from about pick 45 onwards.

Adelaide father-son prospect Tyler Welsh has attracted little interest, despite scouts recognising the marking forward’s potential.

The Crows are therefore likely to be able to secure Welsh — the son of former Adelaide goalkicker Scott — with their second and final pick in the draft, which currently sits at No. 64.

North Melbourne should be able to secure River Stevens — the son of two-time premiership player Anthony — as a rookie.

Gerreyn is one of my faves in this crop but can’t see us taking him. Although at 48 would be very difficult to pass on.

We only have 2 ruckman on our list with Lobb moving to the defensive group that also opens a spot up for a developing kpp playing forward at VFL level too.

Would prefer we hit that up with our rookie pick though. Someone like Harding, Molier or the local boy Impey

There is plenty to work with this kid as a rookie in particular. He is raw but his hit outs to advantage are so good and his athleticism is unbelievable for a 200+cm kid.

Molier is definitely my pick of that lot. His speed, agility is incredible for someone over 200cm but is extremely raw and would need alot of work before he is ready to ruck at VFL level let alone AFL.
I'd much rather take a mature guy who can plug and play if English goes down allowing us to keep Darcy forward and Lobb back. I have faith in Smith so am happy with him as our developing ruck.

Saw a little glimpse in there of his 2.92 20m and his agility, also a bit of his VJ when he jumped over a few of the guys on the last line of defence. Definitely raw but the traits are there if he puts it all together.

He's the pick of the late ruck prospects for mine. He was really good in the WAFL grand final and is good around the ground which Bevo would like.

The ruck prospects don't really excited me this year though and I think they are a level below last year's overall. I'd prefer to look at a mature aged option.

I get the feeling Hannaford or Hynes are where we land for our first pick.

I'm not as sold on Gross as most people are. I'd rather just take an Urquhardt or Ough a little later in the draft and grab Hannaford (if he slips to our second pick) or Harrison Oliver as a small defender with our second pick.

Sanders is a contested beast so I'm less concerned by the post-Libba landscape than some are. We just picked up Matt Kennedy who can play inside as well.

I'd wait until the rookie draft for a ruck too.

I'd posted about Molier before - 201cm but recorded a 2.92 second 20m sprint (insane) or we can look at Ajang Kole Mun - huge, huge leap on the kid but is very much a 'project' type. managed a few Geelong VFL games though, incredible athlete except for his 2km time at this stage.

Failing that, I'd be comfortable giving Crossley a second chance as a rookie. He actually seemed to have decent forward craft when he was in the AFL system so isn't that 'first ruck only' type we tend to exclude from consideration anyway.
