FYI

Will add a 2024 NAB Draft & Trade tracker thread, stickied.

Tag me when we have a confirmed trade/draft and I will update the thread accordingly

Phoenix Hargrave. From all I've seen he is a Libba clone.
It will be great to have someone on our list again that commentators constantly screw up the name of.

"Phoenix Hargraves has the ball..."

how do we feel about the trading up scenario? I was in favour of targeting Sanders last year because the top 6 seemed a cut above (altho still have reservations about taking a Taswegian)

But this year I feel like its too random to bank on someone we rate being available in the low teens? Or is there a clear top 12-15 this year or something? Seems like the kind of draft where you want more picks?
Last year we could have lost our first rounder entirely due to a Croft bid so even though we paid a lot, it made sense.

I'd rather just take what we have to draft than lose any capital next year.

Has any of our ITK heard anything about our plans to either, 1. Trade up for a higher pick, or 2. Gain another pick inside the top 25-30 range?

Apparently the pick swap window is now shut as of November 8th? If so, I assume nothing will be done/revealed until draft night?

When does Cal Twomey release his next Phantom Draft? You will be able to get a very good idea of the top 15-20 from that, he usually goes at around 70-80% for that range from the last few years.

probably the some date as last year the 18th of November

Looks like he did one 12th - 13th Nov last year so might get one over the next few days to have a really good idea if any of those mid 20s projected players might be pushing into the teens and help a Berry or Reid drop to ours.

Hopefully we drops this one early it’s the only phantom draft I take notice of

Have every second poster here have some variation of spelling of the name Hargrave. Got to have someone succeed Macrae in that regard.

Harry Oliver VS Angus Clarke

Who is your preferred? Why?

Cooper Hynes VS Jesse Dattoli

Who is your preferred and why?

:)
Oliver because I think we need players who are better stoppers down back post Duryea which is coming pretty quickly.

Second one is two players I'm not fully sold on, need to be sure that Hynes can become a midfielder at AFL level and build that tank and not just be a Cam Rayner type forward all his career. Dattoli is more his fumbling of the ball, he does it a lot and I like the look of player who are one touch draft wise. Probably leaning on Hynes especially if we do the necessary tests to prove he can play midfield at AFL level after developing his tank a bit.

Oliver vs Clarke - I want both. Clarke higher upside although Oliver as a Duryea replacement makes more sense for us. Hopefully one drops to 35.

Hynes vs Dattoli - Not a fan of either at 17. I think Hynes has more scope as a midfielder at AFL level eventually, but Dattoli is a better fit in our current forward line.

Hynes as a midfielder if we think he can also fits a pretty noticeable spot on our list too given we have absolutely bugger all young onballers above the 185cm mark. The vast majority of them are really quite small.

It is why I whenever I do different scenarios I find it pretty hard to overlook Ough/Boxshall at their ranges when we take a smaller player earlier.

Reckon we bid on him with our fourth pick but don't think that Hawthorn will pass him up

I'd pass on Anderson if I was them, I don't think he'll make it. Has too many deficiencies in his game and I don't think we'll pick him because he hasn't shown much improvement this year.
