AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
The SEN Phantom has us landing Hannaford with our 3rd pick at 35.
Looking like Hannaford will slip to our second pick.
If it means we get Berry, Murphy or even Lindsey like some experts have been saying then I can live without getting Hannaford.I'll be so nervous if we pass on Hannaford with any of our picks. And I'll cry if we miss him.
Part 2 of Pom's mock draft. Trainor, Hannaford, Moraes & Dennis. His is based on 0 trades though.
Oh and Bianco as a late pick...

Reckon their best Berry type is still Simon Black. Is he like Logan Morris from Brisbane? I always felt Logan was a Berry type.
Certainly looking like we’ll get the opportunity to draft a clear list need with our first.Cal also said on gettable we are interested in:
Murphy Reid, Joe Berry, Taj Hotton, Oliver Hannaford, Cooper Hynes
Curious to hear peoples orders of that group for Pick 17, assuming all available (even though they wont be).
Id be happy with any of these, in this order.
Berry - safest bet. Exactly what we are desperate for. Arguably the lowest ceiling out of this group but perhaps highest floor. A good small forwards/high half forward with great athletic profile would be very very hard to pass up. Did notice in the Rookie Me Draft Guide (worth a read) that hos endurance was only average, I thought he was endurance/speed blend?
Hotton - big risk with ACL and fact that brother also looked exciting but was delisted 2 years later worries me. Reward could be the bobby hill type that is missing in our forward line and thats worth the risk I think. Ultimate boom or bust selection.
Reid - You just cant teach quick thinking and composure and its worth its weight in gold in the next level. He will develop an AFL body and skills are already very tidy although lacks penetration on kick. Definitely inside/outside mix mid at next level in prime. Could start high half forward but would be a slow burn there. Doesnt help our flag tilt in next few years but does replenish ageing midfield nicely.
Hannaford - probably to most raw of these prospects but has elite traits that we would love…competitiveness, pace, versatility. Someone said better Gallagher earlier, I reckon that is spot on but more forward craft. I would be so happy to get him at second pick which seems an outside chance. Waiting til then would be nervy given that Richmonds 1st pick of second round is most likely sold to highest bidder. Can see someone swooping if not taken earlier. I would take him with 17 (21) if others above are taken already. Would probably also take a few years although he already looks a power athlete.
the one that least excites me. More so because of list fit that any real knock on him.
Cooper Hynes - would have loved to see his testing results. Can see him being a good player providing the power athlete profile is elite. Its always hard to judge if his type dominate because they hit puberty in primary school and are bigger than other kids. Or….are they genuine power athletes who still have that advantage in an elite, adult environment. In the case of the former, what’s his other elite traits?
All in all, should get a pretty good player, especially if 2 or 3 of Richmond, Port, St Kilda and Melbourne take talls as now seems to be expected.
Berry > Reid > Hannaford > daylight > Hotton > HynesCal also said on gettable we are interested in:

I think that list comes from info provided by clubs with top 10 picks. Essentially, AFL want all top 10 selections there for those photos in their new jumpers they always use.16 in the open draft, so potentially our first pick may not be in that list.
That is terrifyingHotton isn't just an ACL risk - he's a foot bone, dual surgery complications with his knee ACL risk. I'm wary
Yeah I'd rather avoid unless all other options are gone. I'd prefer Hannaford if out of those 2Hotton isn't just an ACL risk - he's a foot bone, dual surgery complications with his knee ACL risk. I'm wary
1000% agreed. Not the sexiest of options, but Harrison Oliver makes a lot of sense for us if he's still there at 29.
Every good team needs a back half player with a genuine appetite for the contest. He'd be a great Duryea replacement and uses it well.
Of those likely to be available, he strikes me as the safest bet as a likely 200 gamer.
Seems like he has plenty of fans between our two picks. GWS and Richmond ive seen linked.1000% agreed.
I'd kill for us to have a Branden Starcevich / Bailey Scott / Blake Hardwick / Brayden Maynard type.
Duryea's been an absolute steal of a pick-up, but surely this HAS to be his last year.
A Duryea replacement, a Dylan Moore clone and a tall-ish Mid with pace / burst speed are absolute MUST HAVES from this draft.
Xav? I didn't watch much of him, mostly because Carlton were heavily kicked to him with their pick before they traded up to 3. I don't think he (or Reid) fall to us anyway. That is terrifying
Hopefully one of the clubs with multiple picks selects him
What are your thoughts on Lindsay though Mof? For me he’s one of those players I’m really on the fence about
Provided there's a good excuse for his 2km time.Yeah I'd rather avoid unless all other options are gone. I'd prefer Hannaford if out of those 2
I’m definitely missing something with Hotton, no way I’m using any of our first 2 on him regardless of injury concerns.Hotton isn't just an ACL risk - he's a foot bone, dual surgery complications with his knee ACL risk. I'm wary
Good yoyo tho so I'm not too worried about that. Endurance is also probs the easiest of traits that players can improve on.Provided there's a good excuse for his 2km time.
The guys we play in that HF role have to be able to cover ground well. Really well.
If their VO2 max allows it - Veszpremi an example of a player that couldn'tGood yoyo tho so I'm not too worried about that. Endurance is also probs the easiest of traits that players can improve on.
