FYI

Will add a 2024 NAB Draft & Trade tracker thread, stickied.

Tag me when we have a confirmed trade/draft and I will update the thread accordingly

Pair Reid with Angus Clarke and we’re off and running. Josh Dolan and Sam Davidson complete it.

There was an article about Clarke earning money for his flights to and from footy by chopping and splitting firewood to sell. He’d have some real functional core strength that a lot of young fellas wouldn’t have.
"...some real functional core strength..."

And a genuine work ethic to go with it.
Gotta love that 👍

Apparently StKilda 2nd pick a good chance to be traded down, possibly with GWS (combo of 15, 16, 21).

Don't mind this as GWS seem to have interest in similar players as us. Saints more likely to go tall at 15/16.
If St.Kilda do that trade I reckon they will be eyeing off Reid with one of those picks.
Although if GWS trade up it might mean more chance Hotton is available.

they have us talking in this Mock Draft

Pick 20 - Jesse Dattoli

Pick 28 - Harrison Oliver

Pick 35 - Ollie Hannaford

Pick 45 - Cody Anderson

I'm least excited by pick 20 in this scenario.
Love the Oliver pick though. By 2026 he's every chance of being a best 23 lock

Pommy's group mock with dylan, ian, lekdog, damo has been going live. Ian is choosing for dogs and has gone Datolli, Gross, Ough so far.
Berry, reid, hotton were gone. Hannaford went the pick after datolli. Dont mind the Gross selection. he'll learn under the best. Ough probably the best. He went Burmeister and Bice for his 4th and 5th selections.

Yeah, Oliver would just be a tremendous pick based on the analysis. Hannaford is interesting as he could be anything.
It's worth having a look at any vision. Unlike a lot of smaller defenders at draft time, he seems to actually defend.
I like Barrat too - he's not quite KPD height but his style is physical. I'm leaning towards harder edged players given how we played against Hawthorn in the elimination final.

Hannaford could be a bust on endurance but he does attack contests with intent, so that's a tick.

Ough, Dat’s-to-tolli Gross. Hmm, not my finest work.

In all seriousness though, that draft would be enough to make me scream into my pillow until my lungs burst.

Yup, looking at the vision of him and I'd honestly go Oliver at 20 as that Duryea replacement. If Port are reportedly keen on him as well then I'd rather guarantee him instead of hoping that he's there a few picks later.

Dattoli looks talented but I look at him and the vision of him is basically another Weightman. I'm already leery of a small forward taken early and he's another marking small instead of a crumbing small.

You can build endurance but you can't teach some of the traits that Hannaford has so I'd be cool with him as our third pick.

Anderson is a pure inside mid but we've got Libba looking at the end so a hard working, hard nut tackler who hates to lose is a pretty decent idea to pick up.

I must admit, I’d just put a line through Cooper Hynes, mainly due to him being an inside midfielder/medium forward which is not a list need at all.

Also, with the well built 18 year olds coming through, there is always the risk that perhaps they just dominate due to hitting puberty early.

Digging a bit deeper and watching all the highlights available of him on youtube, he is definitely worth a second look.

Couple of good interviews here too.

1st with Nathan Buckley & Tom Morris

2nd with Cal and Riley on Gettable

They go for about 10 mins each. Gives you some sense of his character.

In terms of the player, was interesting to hear that Hynes has been a forward his whole life. Described kicking goals as his 1wood. Few clubs in that golf bag though. The way he drives through the contest with power being one of them. Stands up in the tackle too.

Largely untapped from a physical perspective but Stringer like power. Got some Stringer confidence too but no limp and hopefully a bit more brains. Could be a blessing that he didn't partake in the combine.
Can see him being a real P.O.D after a few years in the system. I can certainly see what we like about him.
