FYI

Will add a 2024 NAB Draft & Trade tracker thread, stickied.

Tag me when we have a confirmed trade/draft and I will update the thread accordingly

Across two drafts, that would be 4 1st rounders for Sanders and Reid/Berry/Hotton.

Unless our recruiters see one of those 3 as a guaranteed 300 game gun, I can’t see it happening.

We should be offering F1 and 2nd or 3rd IF we look to move up this year.

Anything more would be negligent list management. In my opinion.
And Croft.

Sanders, Croft, Reid/Berry/Hotton for 4 1st rounders. Considering Sanders was the one we moved up for, I don’t think that’s that bad?

Croft softens the blow.

Can’t see us doing it though. For a Top 5/10 pick, yeah sure. But handing over a 1st rounder for at best a few pick upgrade in the teens is horrible.

Finish outside the 8 and we’ve given it away to drop a spot or two.

There’s been zero talk of it, so I doubt it’s an option, but would you trade 17 & our future 1st for Tigers Pick 11?

If Twomey’s phantom is fairly spot on,
11 -> 14
17 -> 20

At 14, we have the choice of Reid, Berry, Hotton whereas Tigers drop to 20 and likely snag one of Shanahan, Armstrong, Whitlock. (Twomey has them taking Shanahan at 14)

Our 2nd round pick still puts us in with a chance to still grab a Hynes/Hannaford type.

2 years of future pick trading comes in next year as well.
Sorry, no, I can't have that.

I'm not giving up a first that could easily be pick 8 for a 6 pick upgrade this year.

God u just find anything don’t u to put a negative spin on it
Why do so many people disagree just to disagree. These are what different people think and they are entitled to their opinion be it right or wrong. Don't respond if you don't like what others think. Sometimes it is almost bordering on bullying.

Yeah, I cannot see any player sitting just outside the top 10 that would be worth trading up for at all. By giving up 17 and a F1.

The only way I will accept any swap. Is if it is a straight swap, 1st for a 1st, 2nd for a 2nd kind of thing. Keen to use our second to trade back in again if needed.

Unless there is a genuine slider I believe Datolli will be a dog.
Pick 17 (20), isn't going to land us one of the more appealing picks, and more talked about draftees unless we have a slider. So we are all going to have to accept that, it may not be a player that most here desire. We have to trust the clubs instinct in making the pick. They are the ones who have spent all year researching the player. We DO need a small forward, and one with the ability to play into the midfield, and Daitolli seems to check those boxes.

Just hope we break the trend of misses at small forward this year. Our ability to find and develop small forwards and wingers has been poor in recent times. Most of our small forwards are make shift, none natural types.

I’d say the club sees Dattolis scope as a future mid, with the ability to have immediate impact up forward.

I can’t help but see some Zak Butters in him. Not as much mongrel, but certainly similar high energy and how he moves.

Tbh, it will be a very underwhelming draft if it turned out exactly how Twomey predicts it. But it could be worse.

Okay with Hynes if he is genuinely the best MID that is available. But hoping we can land a bit more pace, two way running, and general damage with disposals. Hannaford I really want, but the reality is, he will likely be gone by the time our second pick comes around.
This bolded bit should be written in big font at the top of our recruiters' wish list. Whether this means midfielders, wingers, flankers or all three, it is of the highest priority. We have been caught out on numerous occasions for our lack of pace, lack of spread and kicking efficiency, the most recent example being this year's Elimination Final. It's pretty obvious we let Macrae and Daniel go for this very reason, so we need to focus on replacing them with the best we can draft that have these much needed attributes.

Personally I see more Josh Rachele in Dattoli. However comparisons are very much open to interpretation.

Was surprised to read that Butters is only 2cm taller than Datolli, and Datolli still has some growth left in him. And Butters is a full time MID who attends center bounces.

His two weaknesses is missing gettable goals, and poor decisions at times that results in the ball turning over. Pretty much what we are good at already xD

Can you post the article please
Hahaha.
No.
I’m not getting sued by god damn legacy media or banned from BF, sadly you’ll have to go buy a Sun, sub to their terrible website or some other means I will not talk about 😂

I’ve thought for a while we need to move off 17, it’s in a poor spot for us. All the genuine mids are gone, the best players available are mostly KPPs and it’s a bit too early for our needs picks. I’d be happy to trade it back for multiple picks later in the 20s to a team targeting a KPP.

One of three articles in the Herald Sun today about the Dogs, Big full page interview with Dom Milesi is one of them, he very much hinted that we’re looking to trade up this year, deadset on using 4 picks.
So only using 4 picks all up, or a minimum of 4? Was personally hoping we would draft 5, and leave one spot open.

The Dogs have four picks in this year’s draft – 17, 25, 35, 48 – and spent last Thursday briefing coach Luke Beveridge on their strategy, running through all possible scenarios which now also includes possibly moving up the draft on the night.
They will have a list of 50 players in order but it’s no longer as simple as crossing names off and taking what’s there at your turn.
