FYI

Will add a 2024 NAB Draft & Trade tracker thread, stickied.

Tag me when we have a confirmed trade/draft and I will update the thread accordingly

I'm no body language expert but Reid has the look of someone who wants to stay in Victoria

Hotton and Reid are both massive flight risks in my opinion. Clubs like Fremantle, Power and GWS disagree on Hotton and are all interested but Reid has the same consensus across all teams and a massive reason why he could be available at our pick, especially if he makes it past Richmond at 11.

If there's no slider then I wonder if Richmond would consider trading 23 and 24 for 17 and say a future 3rd. I'd rather have 2 stabs at players like Oliver, Hannaford and Alger than take Datolli. Richmond might be keen to move up to take a tall.
We'd need a lot more than F3 to balance that trade (probably need F1).

I'd be happy to simply go 17+25 for 20+23.

On paper that slightly favours them and would give them the first 2 picks on night 2, but it would give us 2 picks right in that Hannaford, Oliver area.

Flea is a better ground ball player. Datolli seems much more lead and mark

Weightman is the furthest thing from a ground ball player, that’s his biggest flaw. He’s always flying for marks. We need a genuine ground ball crumber hence the interest on here in Hannaford.

Yes we need a crumber, but Flea is better when the ball is on the deck than Datolli is. This is a draft thread where we discuss draftees, and we're discussing a comparison between the two players.

But the comparison is relevant. If Dattoli is a very similar type to Weightman then perhaps we should be looking for someone who offers different attributes, particularly as a 1st Round pick.

Agreed, we need a more ground all player than Weightman, not someone who Mofra's saying is less suited than Weightman when the ball is on the deck.

If they see Dattoli as more of a mid long term that's a bit different...

Umm.....that's my point.

If anything, Datolli is even less of a crumber than Flea and is more like Fergus Greene in that he runs to find space (hence my comparison earlier).

One mock tied us to Cody Anderson with a late pick. He's an incredible defensive midfielder but if anyone has any vision of him hitting a target by foot, let me know because I can't find any.

Good luck to the kid but he would concern me.

Ivisic might be that one smokey we tend take really late in the draft given the links we have had to him. Not sure why we go there though he is a good player from what I've seen but he is very similar to a lot of players on our list being that short mid/half forward.

Port and freos picks are 2 & 3 picks after 25. They would both be jumping on player eagles are likely going take. Cal has them taking Bowman which are probably both targeting. So whoever dogs are after is likely safe.

I think the plan is for Weightman to increase his midfield minutes gradually. We might have a longer-term view that Weightman and Dattoli could share a mid/forward position in future years. That could help rotations for the other mids.

He’s got a soccer background?

We need it though?
Likely get a pick 4 - 5 spots back in return (less if Lions and Essendon don't trade out their picks in between) and a sweetener for our trouble.

I believe the Dockers would be trying to get ahead of Eagles for Davis and Port are interested in Moraes and Dodson in that range.

By all accounts we are interested in Moraes
