Like the name! Nickname to be “Home” eh grassman75 ?

What do we know about his performance and abilities?

Brew has averaged 28.5 disposals (17.4 contested), 3.4 marks, 9.9 clearances, 9.4 tackles and 5.6 inside-50s – with all those being career bests except the tackles, which is unbelievably the lowest number of his career despite still being ranked No.1 in the competition by a long way.

Proven VFL gun on the wrong side of 25 who has a whole heap to prove. I don't mind it. It's only a train on spot.

If gets a gig for us, watch him line up on a hff or deep forward pocket
The same serial whinged is on FB soaking about this selection like we’ve traded Bont and replacing him with Dom

Yes he’s 27, but with stats and hunger like that, he’s worth a try - will give us more than we got out of Charlie Clark and we invested plenty of time into him

I’m still dirty that we never took a chance on Podsiadly at a similar age and Geel took him from under our noses and he was part of their premiership.

Even if he’s a stop gap or insurance for Libba until one of the young guys develops, I’m all for it.

Is he an upgrade on someone like Scott?

Provided we play him as a inside mid he is a huge upgrade on most in terms of defensive intent.

Not Fantastic to be honest but played for a struggling Casey team. I'd mainly want him as a train on player for another tough nut to put the others through there paces and hopefully get him across to Footscray to take the pressure off our new developing mids. Obviously best case is he impresses and gets a AFL spot.
Dom Brew is the perfect player for this and I'm a little ashamed I didn't think of him.

For the draft people

is it too much of a stretch to think Hynes could developed into a Tom Papley type player?

I haven't had time to do a deep dive into the players, so I have no thoughts on them as yet, but I love the strategy.

We needed to bring through a bunch of youth - tick. The strategy to bring forward picks from next year to load up this year reflected a strong identification of where our list is at, and an intention to be bold in order to address the somewhat stagnant nature of our list development.

We needed maturity, leadership, big bodies, toughness, running power, and aerial prowess across all three zones, and at a glance we've captured at least half of these with every single pick. Big fan of having Brew in over the preseason as well.

I don't agree with every single move we've made this off season, but the sentiment is great.

One thing is for sure, though: this is a big, big crop for our recruitment team. We have invested a lot into getting younger over the past two years, which you only do if you have confidence in the prospects. If we don't hit on at least a couple of our picks this year, Milesi and Power should both be in the crosshairs.
