Any smalls we need can come after that, we just bomb on too many of them to spend more high picks on a skinny small kid.

To be fair the draft profile sounds great for Stephens, if we got this guy below we would be laughing

Stephens was able to flash his natural abilities throughout the course of the SANFL and National U18 Championships. The final game of the National Championships saw Stephens have a blinding performance with a game-high 33 disposals that included nine clearances. Stephens pin-point kicking and inside 50 penetration was evident as the Allies could not stop his accumulation around the ground, with his neat left foot giving recruiters plenty to like. Another standout match came against Sturt in the SANFL elimination final which saw Stephens have no issues adjusting to a cut-throat final. It wasn’t his most prolific but his defensive component to the game was outstanding with the eagerness to chase, pressure and tackle. His outside game has been tremendous, the most obvious asset to his armoury so far and his earned him comparisons to AFL stars Andrew Gaff and Lachie Whitfield. Dylan’s continuous movement is supplemented by the capacity to lead up to the ball, break away from the pack and use the ball wisely when entering forward 50. Stephens is a superb athlete displaying his speed (2.97 20m sprint), endurance (21.2 Yo-Yo test), agility (8.24 seconds), and 2km time trial time of 6.01 minutes at the National Draft Combine. A typical improvement for a player in Dylan’s position is to add more muscle to his light frame to be able to withstand the rigours of football at the highest level, while building his contested numbers. He is likely to play that wing role at AFL level, but has shown he can play on the inside, but still with a high-leaning uncontested ball. In many ways, he could develop into that Steele Sidebottom type midfielder, where at times his contested possession rate could move to the mid-late thirties more so than around the one-third mark. Overall, given his skills, athleticism and work rate, Stephens is a standout midfielder, and the top outside-leaning midfielder in the draft crop

I still say it was far more logical to pick serong than stephens because we knew Campbell and gulden were coming and they had exactly the same attributes.

The only real advantage academy list managers have and we pick an exact clone of the boys coming through.

After falling disappointingly in the grand final, the Swans’ attention now turns to list management. Veteran Luke Parker is all but certain to land at North Melbourne this off-season, per Jon Ralph. Parker has had a tough year due to injury and suspension but has proven he can still play a vital role; in a premiership tilt, no less. Ruckman Peter Ladhams remains stuck behind Brodie Grundy in the pecking order and could seek greater senior opportunities elsewhere, while small forward Jacob Konstanty is yet to break into the senior side and remains unsigned for next season — he will learn his Swans future in the coming weeks. Sydney currently has nine players off-contract — Harry Arnold, Jack Buller, Aaron Francis, Tom Hanily, Jacob Konstanty, Jaiden Magor, Lachlan McAndrew, Caleb Mitchell and Cooper Vickery. List cuts are imminent.

There is a big difference between Warner telling the club he won't be re-signing with us and actually signing to play for another team.

I don't see what would be so great about having players playing for us who are signed with other clubs.

Not to mention, even if it was allowed, it wouldn't impact players like Houston or Warner because they aren't free agents.

If Warner wants to leave, he can ask for a trade this week.

Yea I’m not sure about that . Something like that, the media vultures would have picked up on and reported about it. Managers would have leaked it to put pressure on the club .

A better deal would be 3 and next year's first (probably 3-8) with Corey thrown in. Three would get us the Chad replacement and our picks will most likely get us the two talls then Cochran.
Next year's first can get a good draftee or be split to get the academy kids.

Tbh our depth needs to improve massively. Especially with Parker likely gone.
