People are going into meltdown about Parker leaving. Some people are even giving up on supporting this club because of it.

Probably because we are disparate for a big bodied in & under contested beast and the toughest one we had is now walking to North because he was either used as a fwd or not played.

What are we all thinking for Parker value wise.

  • F3
  • #40

I prefer #40 given after all the matches it will probably fall around the 40 mark anyway and thats a higher pick than F3 next year in a better draft.
Pick #40 would be quite ironic. We drafted him with that pick to begin with.

He showed he could impact in smaller bursts in the midfield and was a goal threat in some matches, but was off the pace of the game much of the time.

Frost's manager just mentioned about his situation. Will likely stay at the Hawks, baby on the way so he is looking for stability so, as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, he wouldn't be looking to move interstate I wouldn't think.

Just happy we won't ridiculously offer some heinous overs for Frost

Yep and we love to draft players in the 30s and 40s so hopefully we get a good one

Just wonder whether it is possible to get a second from North. Now they have 22, we aint getting that okay, but lets say they can split 22 with GC and we can get a pick in the late 20's or 30's that would be perfect. Means North still keep a second too

Actually thinking about it but if we could get F3 and F4 that might be more valuable for Parker. Thats because that F4 would come rocketing in with all the bid matching and would potentially end up coming in from #60 or so into like #45 or so

F3 is effectively the equivalent of current 40 with North, within 5 picks anyway.

Any future 3rd or 4th round picks we have are to be swallowed up by academy matching next year, so that's the reason we'd get them, not to use them earlier than the position suggests.

Thats what i meant is that with the projected 10+ matchable players in the top end of the 2025 draft the pick will become valuable to match our 3 academy boys

I suspect we will get future pic that has points attached to help with 2025 academy. We will only draft 3 or 4 players this year and I expect 2 to be academy rookies so that just leaves 17 & 19 as only live picks.

Not sure if Swans can get Alik Aleer (gws), Nick Vaulstin (richmond) or Tim Kelly (wce)

I think we trade/delist:

Parker
Ladhams
Konstanty
McAndrew
One of Arnold/Francis (looks like Arnold)
Vickery (less preferable Magor)

So that's 6 spots, with Hanily from the MSD just taking Reid's spot.

Another pick inside the top 40 would be nice. Take 3 or 4 at the ND, 1 or 2 rookies, at least 5 players and maybe leave an SSP spot open.

Also what's wih everyone crapping on Tom McCartin lately?
Guy has been fantastic for a few years, has a couple of ordinary (not bad mind you) games and lots of BF posters suddenly decide he can't play...Do people just need someone to shit on now that Melican is back to his best?
I love Tom but every time the ball comes into the backline I see someone who is in a blind panic running into our other defenders and giving up goals.

He should be moved forward, which is where he started and where we have a screaming need for a mobile forward who can take a contested mark and kick straight. He needs to be reinvented. Allows for certain players to have a run in the 2s to hone their skills when they don't deliver in the 1s.

2024 offseason:

Outs: Konstanty, Parker, Vickery, Reid, Arnold, Magor

Would give us 5 list spots of which 3 are main list spots and 2 rookies

17, 19, and Cochran in National draft and then 2 rookies

So we are now moving our best KPD up forward? Why?

Luke Trainor elite rebounder/tall defender. Not that far a reach at 3, best defender by a fair bit in this class.
He's ranked 16 on RookieMe....not that I'd have any idea but that's a fair distance from top 3 in what is apparently the best draft in ages. Looks good for a pick at 13 if our imaginary Warner trade this year plays out that way....

So we are now moving our best KPD up forward? Why?
Because he's no longer our best KPD. He's been piss poor in comparison to his usual standard. His strength used to be his timing but now all he does is get caught behind or under the ball, and running into teammates. I have never felt more assured a half decent opposition ball would end up in a mark to his direct opponent.

Melican has gone past him. Ideally we need someone better than Melican in addition these two. Would be happy to tolerate mccartin as the 3rd defender. Otherwise I would be more than happy to try him as a forward because Amartey gives me the shits.

Reports Tim Kelly with a year to run has had clubs enquiring. 31.

Would pick 3 and Tim Kelly be enough for Warner?

Swans get a plug and play replacement mid / half forward who can rack it up. Very good centre clearance mid.

Plus get a crack at a top 4 mid with pick 3 for the long term list profile / balance.

Would that be close?

And Warner goes to west coast so we don’t have to see him run around and win a flag anytime soon
Better than going to freo

He will go way before that and RookieMe is a shocker for rankings especially defenders

So a guy that wants to go to WA for a guy that would want to go back to WA...again? Nah we good.

How quickly do you want no? Just no. Pick 3 plus the Hawks 1 this year (Barass trade). Surely that’s more than fair. Has to be the equivalent of two firsts this year (whether it be those two or your f1 but I’ll assume you wish to keep your f1) most Swans fans would be beyond annoyed if if just pick 3 and a bloke that would last a year before wanting to go home again.

Honestly, I'd take that.
