Talls help you rebuild on the run and let’s be honest here are Amartey or McLean going to cut it?
It takes a while to get most KPFs up to speed. We've been lucky to get as much from McDonald as soon as we have. We don't know if Buller will make it so getting at least one KPF into the pipeline is just good succession planning.
If Buller pushes one of the current 3 out, well and good. A draftee is unlikely to reach that quality inside two or three years. Cadman, #1 pick, has taken 18 months to start producing.
Pretty sure we'd still be interested in getting up to Armstrong if we can find a way.

Think Armstrong is no hope on earth but yes if he’s there at the GWS pick or something go for it. Personally there is very little between the next lot though. It is why I’m not interested trading up for Shanahan

Not horrible Gerryn is a weird one
Sims and Gerreyn are the types we need to complement Logan, so I could see it. Get the idea Gerreyn is probably a little more of a ruck/KPF than Sims who is more of a KPF/ruck, so would go Sims. Competition for McLean and Amartey.

Maybe Jack Whitlock can fill out and become a pack/contested marking type, but would take longer.

I am coming around to Dattoli, especially if we were to use him at some CBs. As a pure small forward then no, I'd focus on other types.

I want a small forward and Dattoli I really like as a talent

They lost 1.

But probably do pick another one up. Maybe another winger as well. And a medium defender/HB.

Then Smith boosts the ruck stocks.

They lost Perryman, Cumming and Peatling. That's at least 2 mids they need, they don't need two key talls, yikes they already can't fit talls in. Even if you say Cumming is a half back flanker, they surely need 2 mids out of the 3 picks or at least 2 smaller types rather than more talls.

GWS fans would be utterly ropeable with that draft! Surely they need mids having lost 3 in the trade period
Peatling Cumming Haynes Perryman all out

A 4th on baller
A winger/on baller
A halfback/on baller
and a key defender

Do agree that they need a refresh in their on ball stocks because Kelly/Coniglio aren't getting younger but they still have Green, Bedford, Callaghan and O'Halloran there. Expect them to draft a pure on baller and a couple of outside players that can allow some of the wingers to go more on ball

Unrelated but I found it amusing that GWS posted "we've secured a second round pick for James Peatling" on their social media, making it seem like they'd scored a second rounder for a fringe player. They cleverly left out the third and fourth rounders they threw in with Peatling LOL

Yep effectively got him for a third rounder

I agree but they won't draft talls that would be beyond silly they have about 10 talls, already can't fit them in. They need smalls

Agree unless for some absolute dumb reason like Armstrong is there at pick 21 (25) they will go a pure mid and then a couple of mid/forwards or small defenders

They'd probably be right in the market for a few of those running defenders that will come off the board.

Peatling the only mid there.

I think 1 half back, 1 mid, 1 wing then Smith.

Their stocks aren't that bad, they've drafted in the areas that have been hit in recent years. So I think they just top up in these areas.
