Only just realised Bowman was 30 for Twomey. Obviously clubs have mentioned him, but really hope it's not us with one of our firsts.

Before today, wouldn't have thought he'd be Top 50. Would take Davis, Murphy, McKenzie, Sulzberger, Day-Wicks etc before Bowman.

It looks like the key talls will really shape the second half of the first round.

I hope we take a tall with our first pick and hopefully it's not our least favourite left standing. I'd be very curious to know what order the Swans would rank Shanahan, Armstrong, the Whitlock twins, Faull and Trainor and whether we'd still take Matt Ling over the lot of them!

If we trade up to take one we'll know exactly how we and the other clubs perceive this year's key forward stock.

Worst outcome is another team trades up to poach one, that or the bloody Bulldogs take another tall just to piss everyone off!

Twomey has us taking Jonty Faull and although his contested marking worries me slightly I like that he came back strong after missing the first of the year and seems to have the inner drive and desire to improve and compete.

I'm bloody nervous and excited at the same time because I feel like this is a really important draft to nail in order to shape our forward line for the foreseeable future.

We need a tall and we need a small and they need to be bloody great!

Get the job done Kinnear.

We are dead keen on Armstrong but there no hope on earth us having the capital to trade for him unfortunately that sort of tells you our ranking not a surprise he’s been the no1 key forward all year

I would be happy

With Armstrong? Yeah would love him too no chance as teams aren’t trading down really would cost both our firsts even then doubt it is in the ballpark.

Love the ones Cal gave us.

I'd be happy with either of the twins but don't have much of an opinion beyond them for the talls. Not to say someone else might not be marginally better but I'd be satisfied.
Hannaford or Dattoli with our other first round pick. Each has their pluses and not too much in the minus column. Again, either for a tick.
I hope Cochran slides enough to take as a fifth or preferably rookie and we can get a medium and a mid with the other two picks. There seem to be choices available who could make the grade in time, which is what we need, rather than a silver bullet.
I can't see any value in trading up as it looks unlikely to get us to a significantly better player.
F1? Tricky question. Could it get us Hannaford AND Dattoli? That would be an interesting proposition worth considering. What do you think caesar88 ?

I’ve been consistent saying I’d trade our f1 for one of Richmond’s later picks could we get 23 with that? Maybe we look at a medium with that extra pick in the 20’s. However everyone on here just wants to keep our 1 next year. I’d trade it back ourselves to be top 4, we aren’t needed it anyway

You're asking the wrong person in regards to pick swaps or anything KC. I know little about it. However I am drawn to Dattoli and Hannaford because they appear to tick the boxes of things I really want us to get in this draft - pressure, hardness and class at ground level in the front half.

It may be an unpopular opinion but I want us to draft pretty much exclusively for the next 1-2 years. Go for whoever can impact most in that time, while we still have Rampe, while we still have Heeney, while we still have Lloyd, while we still have Grundy, while we still have Cunningham.

Without seeing the statistics in front of me, I would assume that midfielders and small forwards fair the best when it comes to playing senior footy within their first two years, so that's sorta where I'm hoping we go.

Need more than just F1 to get 23 or 24. Probably have to throw in say F4 or even F3 (not both!).
The thought of being able to get both Hannaford and Dattoli, who are different to each other but could each fulfil a small forward role, AND a quality tall forward changed my mind about F1.

Yeah, it was more your opinion on taking both Dattoli AND Hannaford that I am interested in and thanks, you answered that.
I too think the draft is more likely to be our friend for the next few years than trading unless we can snag a real difference maker, which seems a bit unlikely.

Possibly not sure what the going rate would be for that pick 24, I tend to agree that it may cost too much

Twomey has Armstrong sliding to pick 16. If that proves correct, there's a chance we could trade our two late first rounders to Port for that pick so we could draft him. I haven't paid much attention to Armstrong because I didn't think he was in our ballpark but it's interesting that Twomey has Richmond selecting Shanahan first. I'll back the club's recruiters if they decide to do the deal but I lean to using the two first rounders and getting a quality tall and a quality small rather than just the one player if there's only a small difference between the talls.

If we could sell our two firsts for 16+28 (think that’s ports second forget what it is). Just upgrade our first downgrade second to 28

Sure. But that's hopeful (even 16 plus their third pick, pick 36). I agree I would want a pick back but I think their pick 50 is more realistic. At least pick 50 will come in another 5 spots or so.

It's not going to be easy or cheap to move up the draft. Why would Port do it? At that point of the draft there are also players like Berry and Hotton. I'd much prefer Hotton coming back from an ACL to Trainor with multiple concussions or Mraz coming back from a navicular injury.

We could also look at trading up our 3rd pick, especially if we're happy to take Cochran as our 4th. Brisbane would probably trade their pick 34 (will probably become about pick 35) for 44 + 59 (which might become picks 40 and 50ish if we hold on to them) - unless they get a better offer. That's a deal I'd be more interested in.

I trust Twomey that he is round the mark on a majority of the selections, but with the talk about this year and given he hasn't included any trades in his phantom draft i'd say its very likely that he is off with 5-10 in the first 30 selections.

Like probably many on here

Teams are not trading out and around the first round, they just aren't. Maybe something in the later part of the first round, but these trades for pick 2 and or the saints picks were optimistic to say the least. I won't be shocked if no trades occur on day 1 well except ones for the Lions (points and they are later shuffling of picks)

I agree, trading up to 16 is hopeful for Armstrong as Port need a KPF probably more than us which says a lot. I'd love to do it to get him but worried about the cost. I'd only do it if 28 is coming back (whatever their second pick is don't follow them so not sure exactly where that falls)

Love your idea of the Lions picks, sending 44 plus 59 for Lions for 34 is ideal.
