The Suns have two stacked academy classes, this year and next, so the AFL is unlikely to screw them over any time soon.

Time to grab the next Ah Chee off them. Will be one too many in their list soon.

Seriously though I really want Alex Davies.
What our list currently needs are KPP’s, but pretty much every list needs KPP’s.

One list I want to watch is Norths. They have a lot of young mids and mid forwards. Way more that they can keep happy going forward.

I don’t believe we’re a chance of prying out any Suns player that would make our best 22.

I believe our draft and trade God may have other ideas.

Ben King !! (Might as well swing for the fences)

On a serious note - Suns are a weird deals central lately. Lyons delisting, Bowes getting palmed off with first rounder to name a few. They are odds on to come up with more weird ones in the coming years too. If it suits us, Dom will work his magic.

Lions academy v Suns academy kicks down the Coast in about 2 hours. Hope someone is watching to give updates.

??  isn't that your job   ??

look we're not paying you all these :thumbsu: :thumbsu: for nothing Peter Parker

how are we not going to melt/get hyped over the next Buddy/Dusty hybrid player slipping through our hands/falling into our laps if you aren't there to inform the zeitgeist on this board?

I had a prior engagement with my family at the Manly water park and pool this morning.

I mean have you even pressured anyone into an opening a 2023 draft thread yet? ;)
I’d just start one myself I really wanted to. I’ll probably get around to it when our academy start their official games and there are actual match reports to post.

Ashcroft is a gun. I can’t believe the price we we paid for him. Absolute bargain. And we get first dibs at his brother who is talented in his own right. Hopefully he continues to come on.
We have a 2024 father son prospect in Gold Coast’s academy, who apparently went alright yesterday.

which has precedence or is it up to the kid if they are both eligible
They will have a choice as to whether they would like to be drafted to the Lions, Suns or the Open Draft.

Side tangent but are adopted or step kids eligible for father-son? While 2GB and 3AW are likely to scream themselves hoarse about woke rorting of the system, it would seem to be sensible and empathetic to allow those connections which are obviously completely legitimate family connections to be eligible.

I wonder where the line is drawn RE adoption vs foster care (and anything that falls in between?)

Apparently this question has already been asked, and the answer is yes.

There’s one in this year’s or next year’s draft.

Sorry I don’t remember who, but I read about the kid a couple of weeks ago.

Up to the kid to choose, but also the club can decline the academy option.

Adelaide did this with one of their NGA kids last draft.

Gold Coast have a LOT of academy talent coming through over the next few drafts, so there’s a genuine possibility that they won’t be able to either; match bids on all their kids and prioritise the ones they want, or they might not have the list spots to be able to match all their kids.

Jake Rogers this year, and Leo Lombard (Hector Lombards kid for mma fans) next year, are smaller mids that likely start their careers in the forward line, so another small forward option, such as Joe Kennedy might not be a priority for GC.

Nor us, I would imagine
