Oh and by the way Peoples, “our” second and third round picks in this year’s draft are tied to Geelong’s finishing position.

Plus have our own third round pick, and we hold Fremantle’s fourth round pick.

As has been mentioned on the draft board, there’s a lot of bottom agers playing NAB League this year.

I really want to see if Marshall plays in Sandi’s team after the private school season.

Right now it looks like he’s just playing for the Lions academy team in the early part of the CTL, before heading to school footy.
Might be a silly question, but how is he in our Academy if he plays for Sandi - arent they in Vic where the Ashcrofts play(ed)?

He's probably boarding down in Victoria but his home/parents' address is within our region in Queensland.

I think Will Setterfield was similar, played for Sandringham before going as an academy pick to GWS.

Lot of points for Gold Coast !

What JasRulz63 said.

Suns have an academy kid boarding in Vic and playing for Oakleigh as well.

From what’s been mentioned on here before, a few northern academy kids have been offered football scholarships at big APS schools, most turn them down.

Yeah, the Suns first round pick is going to be a hot commodity, especially the worse they do.

They’re going to want points in this draft, as well as next year’s draft for it.
Wondering if they have any good KPP in depth whom they'll be happy to palm off to us. Along with all the pick swaps of course.

I'm sure that the schools keep this sort of info close to their chests but I wonder how many of an elite Vic private school's first XVIII are on a scholarship?
I've heard rumours (second hand) that at some schools pretty much the entire team would be on some level of scholarship.

No different at Schools up here in Brissie like at Nudgee College where the full Rugby team would all be on Scolarships and other schools where it is swimming or tennis or Athletics Scholarship’s

I would guess at the very least XVII.

Geelong also hold their own first round pick, so if the cliff is here, they might start playing more of their kids in the latter half of the year, because there is a top young Vic KPF they should be interested in.

Is it worth starting a Geelong Death Ride thread for a 2nd rounder?

They’re short on genuine KPD’s. They need a big gorilla defender.

They’re trying to turn Mac Andrew in to a defender, when he projects to be a KPF and second ruck, but he’s physically 2 years away at least.

They’re going to be loaded for KPF’s and rucks soon.

They have Ned Moyle who played his first game last night. He looks like he could genuinely be a top 3 in the competition ruck in 3 or 4 years.

They have a talented ruck coming through their academy this year.

They have a genuine top 10 draft prospect KPF in their academy as well, who would be a natural to take over from Casboult.

They have a forward ruck draft prospect in next year’s draft as well.

Maybe we should try have a crack for Ned Moyle next year possibly, as he could be our long-term ruckman option in the future.

But for this year, we NEED to attract tall timber down back through the trade and/or draft period, cause if (god forbid) Andrews gets a long-term injury this year, our season will be basically finished right there and then.

We already have Henry Smith and Kalin Lane as developing ruckmen, Oscar is 28 and Fort 29 years of age so both have 2-3+ seasons in them, 2 senior and 2 developing ruckman on a list is enough IMO.

Moyle is the same age as Lane, and is way ahead in his development.

But there’s already rumours Moyle has interest from half a dozen clubs in Victoria.

Personally don’t see both of them making it to AFL level unless serious injuries occur.

Henry to me seems like more of a tall forward / ruck (in the mould of Oscar, Joey, Eric) but if one of those two gets injured long-term though, we usually will choose Fort, Fullerton or go smaller in our F50 as such (Cockatoo, Sharp, Lohmann), so there isn’t much of a chance Henry finding a spot IMO long-term.

Kalin could make it as a pure-ruckman in the future but as mentioned above, the club seems to favour Fort or even Fullerton in that ruckman role currently (if Oscar gets injured), before going smaller in our F50 setup and allowing Rayner to play as that 3rd tall banana (IMO).

Ned on the other hand seems like a Stefan Martin ruckman and has a point of difference compared to the rucks over at our club at this moment of time.
