Wasn't quite sure where to put this but probably most relevant in here...

Hodgey has his regular weekly spot on SEN with Pat Welsh and Ian Healy. Generally he does very well to remain neutral and comment on all teams as a third party... but every now and then he accidentally drops in a "we", "us" or "our" when talking about the Lions. Interesting to hear in conjunction with his young man coming through the ranks...
He's one of the greatest ever Hawks players and will be remembered forever interesting that he has a stronger connection with the lions.

He lives up in Brisbane no? With that and the short playing and part time coaching he had he’s probably a bit more invested in the current crop of Lions’ players than at the Hawks.

By all accounts loves it in Brisbane and doesn’t want to move back to Victoria (at this stage).

He played with most of the current Lions team and was coached by (and coached with) the current coaching group. I'd be surprised if there were too many left at Hawthorn from the Hodge era. Doesn't mean he's a Lions man first and foremost but I can see why he'd be invested in the current Lions.

None of that makes a lick of difference when it comes to doing what's best for your kids though. Brisbane has a lot going for it as a potential destination but there's also an allure to playing for a big Melbourne club, just like your dad did. I doubt Hodgey's personal fondness of either club will be a significant factor.

It has been talked about for a while now so no big surprise.
I doubt it stops any young player leaving early if he requests it.
Good for some young guys that struggle early but may come good in their 3rd year.
Also, the average ones get 3 years wages instead of two before they are cast aside.

Who was the last draftee that we didn’t give 4 years to, to show if they have something?

Not including players traded to another club.

Being part of a winning club is awesome, but building one is a whole next level of connection.

Never beat that feeling. Well, having your own kids does but can't think of anything else.

I did not mention the Lions briztoon
The article you mentioned was about all the AFL clubs.
So, my comment was a general one.

I realise that. My question was about the Lions as, as far as I can remember, at least since Noble became boss, we have always given draftees a minimum of four years.

Brock Smith in the offseason before last.

Levi having another good game in the CTL semi final.
If he has the same professionalism as Will, this off-season could be massive for him going into his draft year.

Wouldn't shock me to see him rise into Top 3 pick contention. Easy call to make though when he is already floating around 5th.

What player comparison do you think he plays like?
Would say a smaller version of Stevie Johnson from Geelong / GWS back in the day IMO.

Anyone seen George Stevens play? What is his endurance and athleticism like?

Been watching him play Basketball since he was 11, he was always much bigger and stronger than all the others. He looked 3 years older than all the other kids.
He is very smart and sees plays before everyone else. Has lots of time when he has the ball finds the ball with ease. Leg speed is the worry in the big league. Time will tell he also is a great level headed young man

He sounds like he could be one of those players who isn’t tha fastest but creates time with his awareness.

A little bit like say, Pendlebury, who apparently has a basketball background. I think a commentator may have made
mention of it once.
