Im not sure it was just Whitlock they were chasing. They could have still been trying to shop up for Faull and Armstrong as well, but became more desperate as the others came off the board.

I still cant quite believe they were shopping it from 8 without asking for something major back. It seems crazy that a club like GWS or Sydney wouldnt have taken a future first from North for one of their picks

They got Richmond's future second back. I don't doubt North would've been asking for GWS or Sydney's future first back given there's likely to be less of a spread there, and clubs don't necessarily like those gambles.

I don't think he's super comfortable public speaking yet. He said a few words to the draft night and about 75% of them were yeah/yep/yes.

I just read it that he hasn't been exposed to the media as much as Levi has. Was a bit of a rabbit in the headlights and possibly thrown by how long the bid confirmation took as we were probably wheeling and dealing in the background.

There was a comment in the lead up to Will's draft about how he just excels at any sport, and I'm pretty sure golf was an off-hand mention in that list too.

Per the CBA, it's top 20 and all earnings in your first three years are regulated.

So 1-20 get three years and can't sign an extension until Round 6. Pick 21+ get two years but can sign a contract for a third year whenever, and longer deals after that same Round 6 timeframe, but the payments for any extension covering the third year will still be as defined in the CBA (to avoid getting drafted later being a better deal because you can get a massive third year unlike the top 20 picks).

Insane that of the 27 kids taken last night; 7 were from Sandringham Dragons with Richmond taking 3 teammates at the Dragons, to go with 2 teammates from GW Rebels and the Lions getting 2 x Sandy Dragons. Of the 27 taken, 22 were also from the elite Vic u/18 league. No doubt the numbers will change tonight.

If I'm not mistaken, Oakleigh Charges had 10 kids taken in 22 (only one of those a rookie) and Sandringham Dragons also had 7 from that same year (also only one rookie).

Easy to say "package up the picks and trade them" but I don't think there'll be many takers especially considering the points sytem is changing next year.

Probably not, but there still might be a few. Port traded away a pick in the 40s to move up for Berry, maybe they'd like to restore their position.
