Yup Cats Swans will be hardly worth tuning in for from an emotionally invested point of view.

Cmon Brissy.

I can't see Brissy beating Geelong at the MCG with Geelong having two weeks break and Brissy travelling two weeks in a row.

it will probably be another Geelong v Swans GF, I will be barracking for the Swans, hopefully they turn up to play unlike 2022.

Geelonk aren't that good and Brions play MCG just fine and will have extra motivation due to just missing out last year

Brions have a tough backline ... Cameron will get smothered and the Cats forward small frys will get monstered ..... Cats will also need to stop Neale McLuggage Dunkley and co.... Brions just need to keep running .. keep the ball in motion and the Pussies won't be able to keep up

Brions by 4+ goals

The AFL is going to kneecap Sydney again once clubs kick up enough stink.

This year will be Sydney’s 7th GF in 20 years (2005, 2006, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2022, 2024).

In that time they have only missed finals three times in 2009, 2019 and 2020. Played finals 17 out of the past 20 years.

Great effort. But maybe, just maybe, their ongoing unfettered access to Academy talent should be wound up.

Like permanently. Immediately..

The stench of the privilege has become rancid. It is obscene they continue receiving this charity.

Shadeau Brain - premiership medal
Robert Harvey, Nick Riewoldt, Lenny Hayes - nothing

And the world turns on...

Hard to barrack for any teams left.

Tonight it's a battle between the 'Cotton on Sponsored lifestyle' or a perennial top 4 who will be handed the best player in the draft for the the 2nd time in 3 years.

Then next week we see whether either of those advantages beats the Northern Academy factory advantage.

No wonder suckers like us can't escape the middle 6 bracket.

Port are absolute shite.
How the **** did they get this far???

I reckon they have too much list turn over. They are always chasing another recycled player but lack cohesion. They have a handful of very good players and a lack of a solid core.

Brisbane also get Marshall this year and Annabel next year. Both more than handy. Annabel was BOG in a few games this year, Marshall a second top 20 pick in a strong draft.

GC got three last year get Uhland next year who is probably pick one at this stage. At least they'll have to pay some actual value next season.

Lions should win but they are so unreliable. If they miss a few goals they'll flake it up. Geelong have Bradburyed the whole season and probably get another flag just by not being flaky.

I trust Geelong. Brisbane are like Port, undeniable on their day but if anything goes against them they shit the bed.

Actually really looking forward to tonights game. Just can't pick it, could easily go either way. If I had to I'd probably say Geelong by not much. Then again, it may be about time old mate Charlie Cameron pulls his finger out and hits the scoreboard. Kinda feels like he's just about due for a big one.

Of course Brisbane have another one. Plus Fletcher who went around 10 a few years ago too. Just a joke how compromised the draft is with the same teams stacking top talent for nothing.

It's playing into Bassats hands quite well.

He can easily go to the AFL and point at the stats.

Good to see some different sides in the last few weeks of the season yet again.

Brisbane about to get the best kid in the draft for nothing for the 2nd time in 3 years even after finishing top 4 both years.

Cats and Swans in about their 20th prelim in a row on the back of ridiculous acadamy and father son rules.

GWS, and in particular Gold Coast, doing an unbelievable job of totally butchering the free hit that’s been handed to them on a silver platter. Hard to fathom.

The rich get richer, the poor can simply wallow in obscurity for another 100 years. Equalisation working an absolute treat.

May as well be the English Premier League. F*** Geelong and f*** the AFL.

End rant!

So you know how the afl have stretched out and milked the trade and drafting season so it’s almost a season unto itself so they can remain media relevant as long as they can.
Do you reckon it’s backfired on them and the broadcasters a bit in as much as non finals playing supporters don’t give a **** about the finals and only want it to hurry up and finish so we can get into the drafting and trading period?
More the overall dilution of the AFL product as a whole. Supporters still support their clubs, but it's too hard to love what it's become. Everyone thinks it's a shitshow.

The good thing about these clubs getting gifted gun players is that all list sizes are capped, so to fit them in they have to get rid of other player, a fact other clubs like ours can use to their advantage at the trade table.

A big day of sport with the prelim today plus the Wallabies v All Blacks, Manly v Roosters and Australia v England in the cricket.

The rich get richer, the poor can simply wallow in obscurity for another 100 years.

The rich get richer, the poor get the picture.

That sounds a bit catchier.

Good rant.
100% spot on.
Carry on.

Let’s hope this gives further ammunition to Bassat and other club presidents in the same boat to hit the boys club of the AFL with.

Equalisation anyone?

So they keep their top players and we get access to their castoffs.
And we’re supposed to be grateful?

(Not a whack at you. I’m just “gatvol”. Unfortunately loses in the translation, but any other South African on here will know what I mean, and I’m sure you get the gist.)

Brisbane don't tend to lose too many good players worth getting now that they are more successful and playing finals regularly.

Back when they were a basket case before Fagan took over it was a lot easier to get good players from them as they wanted out.

We have more chance of getting good players from the Suns who despite being spoon fed top draft picks still can't play finals.

Gold Coast are the obscene one. Three top 10 picks last year for free, get Lombard this year potential pick 1 next year. Because they have been underwhelming no-one has noticed the ridiculous riches they have.

Gold Coast cast offs are pretty good usually. They are pretty poor managers. There are no guarantees even with picks, we just have to keep building our list and getting our system right. Geelong are a very ordinary list but extremely good system.

Agree.
We were talking Brisbane, and it was just the fact that we we are supposed to be grateful to get players not getting a game at Brisbane because they keep getting topped up with top picks.

No one wants to come though.
