Interesting news about Harry’s exit interview. Sounds to me like he’s giving the club a chance to up their offer now that Isaac is going.

Ive always had high hopes for Cumming, never reached the point where he was integral for us.

Official from the club - Cumming will leave us, but nothing about about Perryman and Peatling who have also had their end of year interviews - bodes well for us retaining the latter two

Giant moves loom as Cumming tells GWS he wants out
Giants’ unrestricted free agent Isaac Cumming has told the club he wants to return to South Australia as Collingwood come hard to convince his teammate Harry Perryman to join them.Cumming has not informed GWS whether he plans to sign with Adelaide or Port Adelaide, and two sources familiar with the situation confirmed only that both South Australian clubs were interested in the defender.
The Crows are considered frontrunners for the 26-year-old Cumming, who has played 81 matches with the Giants. He would be able to join either club without the need for a trade because of his unrestricted free agent status.
However, unrestricted free agent Perryman’s decision could impact what Cumming does, according to a source familiar with negotiations.
The Power remain favourites for Perryman’s signature despite both the Magpies and Hawthorn also being interested. Collingwood recently upped their offer for Perryman after failing to convince Adelaide’s Irish defender Mark Keane to join the club.
Cumming, who is originally from Broken Hill, has family connections in Adelaide and is highly rated at the Giants, but has had soft-tissue problems this season.
He could follow Perryman to Port Adelaide if the latter chooses to pledge his future to Alberton.
In that scenario, the Power could be more willing to entertain trading dual All-Australian defender Dan Houston, who has four years to run on his deal and would be open to a move home to Victoria, where he has multiple clubs interested.
Cumming’s decision is likely to have little effect other than salary cap implications for the Crows, who will trade in Demons utility Alex Neal-Bullen and are in the hunt for contracted Gold Coast forward Jack Lukosius.
Neal-Bullen is contracted at Melbourne for two more seasons, but has a newborn baby and wants to return to South Australia for family reasons. Lukosius, who is also contracted until 2026, was dropped late in the season and is in the sights of both Adelaide and Port Adelaide, but is yet to decide whether to leave the Suns.
The Crows may lose forward-ruck Elliott Himmelberg, another unrestricted free agent, with Gold Coast keen to add him to their big man stocks after his brother Harry’s club, GWS, made inquiries about him 12 months ago.
Breakout Giant James Peatling is also weighing up his future despite implying ahead of the club’s semi-final that he wanted to remain at GWS.
The Giants have increased their offer since mid-year, with Peatling transforming into a key contributor in the midfield by season’s end, including kicking two goals in the first quarter of Saturday’s semi-final while playing on Lions star Dayne Zorko.
The interest in Peatling from Victorian clubs such as St Kilda and Collingwood has not disappeared, and he is considering his future, even if he may remain at the Giants beyond 2024.
Out-of-contract Collingwood forward Joe Richards is also weighing up a three-year offer from the Power with a two-year deal to stay at the Pies.
Fellow Giant Nick Haynes has also been linked with a free agency move to Carlton.

What a player he was at his peak. I'm glad he's been able to extend his career a little longer.

Yes, happy for him and best wishes with his new club. Sad however to still see one of our inaugural Giants go, and now there are just 4 left - Toby, Cogs, Ward and Kennedy.
Wade Derksen has advised the club of his desire to be traded to a Victorian club.

Good luck to him. We still haven’t debuted him during his entire time with us, so can’t blame him for going to a club that will give him regular games at the AFL level

HARRY PERRYMAN — Unrestricted Free Agent
Perryman remains a hot commodity as this year’s player movement period beckons. The 25-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from Port Adelaide and Hawthorn, with most tipping the Collingullie product to land at Alberton on a big-money deal in October. Herald Sun journalist Jon Ralph believes the Power have tabled Perryman a six-year deal worth as much as $850,000 per season — with GWS and Hawthorn’s offers not said to be as fruitful. The 187-centimetre defender was a first-round pick in 2016 and is eligible for unrestricted free agency after serving his eighth season in 2024, thus he can walk to the club of his choice if he decides to stamp his Giants exit papers. Perryman has played at least 21 games in consecutive seasons, demonstrating his durability along with his defensive accountability and overall reliability.
Verdict: Going.
ISAAC CUMMING — Unrestricted Free Agent
The 26-year-old rebounding defender is in a similar boat to Perryman, and not just because of the area of ground in which they play. Cumming was a first-round choice in the 2016 draft, like Perryman, who was taken six slots before him — and he is also assessing his options as an unrestricted free agent. The 81-gamer is understood to have family links to Adelaide, with the Crows and Power interested in signing the smooth-mover to a long-term deal. Herald Sun journalist Jay Clark is ‘hearing Crows’ as Cumming’s destination this off-season.
Verdict: Going.
JAMES PEATLING — Non-Free Agent
The 24-year-old made an unassuming start to the 2024 campaign before imposing himself on Kingsley’s side as the season progressed, playing the last 10 games between Round 17 and last Saturday’s semi-final loss. Despite drawing rival interest from the likes of the Western Bulldogs and Collingwood, Peatling recently told SEN that extension negotiations with GWS were “trending in the right direction”. While we can’t take every public comment made by a player as gospel, things seem to be heading in the right direction. The 2021 mid-season draftee had a breakout season this year, averaging 13.8 disposals, 5.1 tackles, 3.4 clearances (all career-highs), showcasing an attractive blend of class and physicality at the contest.
Verdict: Staying.
NICK HAYNES — Unrestricted Free Agent
An All-Australian in 2020 and an inaugural Giant, Haynes has seen his senior opportunities at GWS diminish and is widely tipped to cement a move to Carlton as a free agent this off-season. Haynes played just eight senior games this season — the equal-lowest tally of his career with his 2012 and 2014 campaigns. He played nine VFL games this year for averages of 31.4 disposals and 11.0 marks but generally couldn’t get a look-in with Adam Kingsley’s selection committee.
Verdict: Going.
LACHLAN KEEFFE — Unrestricted Free Agent
The 34-year-old played a selfless role for GWS during its short-lived finals run. Improbably, the 116-gamer locked down a spot in Kingsley’s flag-contending side as a negating forward, playing every game from Round 22 to the semi-final after going untried at senior level to that point in the year. Unless he wants to retire — which would be a surprise given his competitiveness at the back end — he seems likely to be offered another deal.
Verdict: Staying.
CONOR STONE — Non-Free Agent
The 22-year-old has managed 13 senior games in four seasons since being chosen by the Giants with the 15th pick in 2020. The Oakleigh Chargers product reportedly has a two-year offer on the table, according to AFL Media journalist Josh Gabelich in July. That deal remains unsigned, however, leaving scope for speculation that the emerging utility may be weighing up potential opportunities elsewhere. But for a player who has seen very limited senior action since entering the league, it would be surprising if he didn’t agree to a multi-year arrangement with the Giants. And, if one or both of Perryman and Cumming depart in October, the door to opportunity opens across that half-backline.
Verdict: Staying.

Yes. Drafted in National Draft 2021, and signed a 2-year extension (on top of an initial 2-year draft contract) so has to be end of 2025.I thought Fahey’s contract expired at the end of 2025?

So, our defensive stocks look like they are going to be gutted this off-season.
In the talls, if we retire Keeffe, and Haynes & Derksen depart for more opportunities, we will be looking pretty bare in the backup cupboard - just Leek Aleer apart from the four first-graders. I suspect if we let Wade go (which I presume we will), and we don't get Elliott Himmelberg (who appears to be destined for Suns) as a utility, we might just hold onto Keeffe for one more year. We will still need to draft one tall defender. If we let Keeffe go, then we'd need to draft two of them (or seek out a FA).
In the small/medium category, we're actually overstocked: Perryman, Whitfield, Ash, Cumming, Fahey, Fonti, Kennedy, Hamilton, Stone (having played there in VFL). Presuming Pez & Cheese leave, I assume either one or both of Kennedy and Hamilton will also depart (retired/delisted). Using the "rule of 7", keeping one of the latter would see us needing to draft one player; losing both would see us need two.

Agree, believe he is genuinely undecided
So on Gettable Cal was reporting that Peatling was still going to meetup with other clubs. So a big chance that we lose 3 best 22 players with Cumming going, and keeping Peatling and Pez looking super doubtful.
Our 2025 list is changing by the day......
Not liking the look of this.
It's not as if these players are lacking the opportunity to play at the top level.
As mentioned earlier, the Giants didn't use a great deal of players this year.
An indication that perhaps many players in VFL weren't ready for the upgrade.
Losing all 3 will obviously make that situation worse for first grade with even more inexperienced players possibly being needed to make the step up.
The club MUST be active this trade season.

I would agree, but who would you be targeting?
This is one of the flaws of the Victorian-centric system, and particularly with Sydney's spiralling costs, of how to tempt mid-range players to the club without overpaying hugely.
