At least we are getting more young talent ahead of Tasmania coming in.
I hope we keep at least one of the above.

And I don't think swans can help. They have local academy players who can live at home if they want to.Totally agree!
On another note the fact a team as stacked with talent as the Western Bulldogs is throwing big tenure offers at James Peatling shows you how difficult our position is. We have to overpay everyone and then deal with cost of living and Laura and Andrew could not give a toss. We look like losing 6+ players and not in the market for anyone.
Setting us up as the perfect development team the VFL always wanted.
I read somewhere they anticipate end of 2nd round compensation which even in a good draft year would be pathetic. Hopefully the improved offer lifts that up a bit but looking like a clusterfu*k.
Sorry to intrude, but I think it could be a nice surprise for you guys on the compo pick for Cumming. Port upped their offer and in turn the crows upped their offer so band 3 (an outside possibility of band 2) may be on the cards. Just my feel on it as we needed to get this one done and may have paid accordingly.Won't be that. Flynn was band 4 (end of 2nd) and he only had a 3 year deal.
We probably just have to wait to ensure the Pez and Cumming deals get done and then we can re-sign who we need.Unless there is a player at the Dogs who wants to come to us I wouldn't be trading XOH.
Well, he can, because he's a stinking hypocrite.Eddie McGuire can't whinge about the Swans Academy anymore considering the Giants appear to be fodder for the Victorian/Adelaide clubs as they pick and choose the guts out of our team after doing all the work to make them decent players.
I haven't seen anything official - have you, or is that just your personal view (which may well be correct)?Kenner’s time has come to an end. Great clubman and person. Will be missed
Not unexpected I guessKenner’s time has come to an end. Great clubman and person. Will be missed
If we're not offering him more than Band 4 is worth to try to convince him to stay I think the club feels his body is cooked.end of second round would be a travesty.
If he was traded, there is no way he would go for pick 40 or whatever that will end up being.
I was hoping for band 2
This draft is really deep, I think get as many picks and use them as possible, plus we are in the window so we need to bring in talent now.If we end up with lots of 2nd rounders, I wonder if we trade some into next year.
We could also try for Brisbane's pick 17, but Richmond will outbid us as they will choose to not bid on Ashcroft.
the 2 worse fumblers are probably Peatling (hi problem is more missing targets) and XOH, that problem is probably lessening if we lose them. This draft is really deep, I think get as many picks and use them as possible, plus we are in the window so we need to bring in talent now.
I think we need a clearance mid as we too frequently get smashed there. I think we need players with clean hands, we have too many fumblers at key moments and I think another winger as I don’t have confidence Angwin will get there. Clearly another small defender given the looming exodus.
Outside of this I’d love to bring in a guy like Caleb Daniel who is versatile and a beautiful user.
X is so frustrating, he has some excellent traits but he has zero composure. His brain is always doing everything at 100 miles an hour.the 2 worse fumblers are probably Peatling (hi problem is more missing targets) and XOH, that problem is probably lessening if we lose them.
they are very similar in my mind.X is so frustrating, he has some excellent traits but he has zero composure. His brain is always doing everything at 100 miles an hour.
I like Peatling, he’s not elite but he applies pressure and tackles. You need blokes like that, he would be a loss if he goes.
It's okay, good even, until we're carrying more than about 2-3 injuries... or in a few positions, a single one (I'm looking at you Briggs/Green/Hogan)!Hypothetical if all of the mentioned end up leaving:
Idun Taylor Whitfield
Ash Buckley Fonti
Callaghan Cogs Kelly
Greene Cadman Ricca
Jones Hogan Daniels
Briggs Green Snooze
Ward HH Muff Brown/Rowston/Leake etc
We would probably take an extra first round and a few extra second and third rounders to the draft.
Big draft if we don’t recruit any mature players.
Caruso et al. have done a superb job with our draft hands since they took over… they will be licking their lips.
Where do the opportunities lie if we are looking to trade up?
They really rate Leake, he just had his season ruined by a couple of early injuries. He found plenty of it albeit in a secondary comp. Rowston looks a bit vanilla from what I’ve seen to date.A bit depends on how they view Rowston and Leake too.
So keen to see him after a proper preseason. Can take a grab, good in the contest and a very good kick. They really rate Leake, he just had his season ruined by a couple of early injuries. He found plenty of it albeit in a secondary comp. Rowston looks a bit vanilla from what I’ve seen to date.
