I think one tall would have been ok at 37, or we could have trade 21,37 for say 26,27 and got onr tall.
Dude Id love you to be listmanager …. We’d trade picks into the future each year taking almost no one …. But in 2047 we’ll have Every pick in the draft

I don't think every year, but the only way to stay up is to somehow get an above average number of top 10 picks, which you don't get from finishing top 8 unless you are getting others first rounders.
Next year's likely pick 1 would they reckon be taken 1 this year. Although we weren't getting Richmond's 2025r1 unless Bolton and Rioli both stayed at the Tigers ( but then they probably don't finish last again).

Will all these smalls Caruso fetishizes about each year end up all playing together?
We can only pick 22, so probably not :)
I think the intent is for some to end up running through the middle.
We have a few more talls and hybrids on the list than many think.
We have all of these talls outside the top 22 Aleer, Riccardi, Gruzewski, Keefe , Madden, Smith plus a few hybrids like Brown

Yeah it's interesting how none of us really thought we were going tall until the media and even Twomey had us going tall. Then we kind of convinced ourselves that oh yeah that makes sense to replace Hogan in 3-4 years..I Would love to know the games that Caruso and others really play behind the scenes.Did anyone see the live footage about 1 hour before the Stringer trade going through.?.Caruso was walking the hallway looking peeved and stopped to talk to somebody. He obviously knew he was on camera and played it well.Probably did same thing when we were saying to Bombers the trade was off the night before .

I don't think any of us were convinced we eeded a tall .... more we were fearful of taking one. I think we all wanted and expected players who could give us something between the arcs

I don’t think he’s big enough or agile enough.
they seem pretty happy with him and seemed to perform well in the VFL.

I dont think he'll be a star, but can seem him being a useful next in line type or maybe even a little better.
You need those guys in your squad.

Forgoing NM's future first for Angove straight up is a shocker. Somehow we saved NM from even worse trades than what they locked in.
It was for 16/17 not for 21 by the way that article reads....and given the trade they did getting likely pick 19 with Richmond's 2nd last year I think we would have been giving up our future first 14-18 range next year.

Would I still have done it? Absolutely because I love the draft and future selections....but I also no jack all about Angove soooooo....

Quite likely Angove would have been there at the Jack Ough pick, so we would likely have missed out on Ough.

Potentially, we could have traded back in (with Lions, for example, when they were dispensing their excess picks in the 40s) and grabbed Ough if we really wanted him (and he was still there) - noting Caruso seemed a little ambivalent about him.

From what I heard there was interest before our next pick. Caruso liked to take luck out of the equation as we saw with Cadman and Leake trade ups.

From the way he talked it sounded like it went exactly to plan. And if that's the case I'm fine with it.

Buuuut I do like F1s

Deathriding a club is a fun thing to have on the side.

I think the sticking point of that potential trade for 24, may have been how do we get back in to still pick up Angove. Given what's reported there, the interest from other clubs trying get back in around that range was a higher price than we were willing to pay. But the straight trade of North's future first for the Oliver pick I think I would have taken.

So I think we have the best forward line in the comp next year.
Stringer Hogan Cadman
Greene Daniels Jones (Gothard)

If Cadman and Jones take a step forward...woooooow.

I'm pretty keen to see a Callaghan Signature as soon as humanly possible.
And to think; Riccardi and Brown and waiting in the wings to support that 6!
