This is my theory to be honest. Seems a loyal type.
Landsberger FMD, blokes track record is horrendous. That suggests to me straight away he's not even talking to the right people. Hasn't once mentioned Hawthorn as a potential destination for what it's worth. Should tell you all you need to know. He's decent at certain areas of reporting not this stuff.
This,A stupid amount.
I'd wait until he is a free agent tbh.
Whatever we're gonna offer Bailey Smith, we should put towards a bid on Callahan.I mentioned Finn Callaghan on here a couple days ago half joking but he's someone I'd be comfortable offering big $$$ and draft capital to get across. Gun.
We were well into him as well in his draft year too.
I would offer Tim English half a box of kfc the way his going, can’t believe the talk of a million a year
He had some concussion issues, but perhaps the ruck rule is impacting him too.He is one of the most overatted "stars" of the comp
I don’t think pick purchasing is going to be the game changer some people are hyped up for.Taylor isn’t going to leave but making them pay up is fine. If he were he will resign before free agency so we needed to make the play now. We need more early picks not less. Cmon Dillon pick purchasing it’s an easy win!
Disagree, end of the year a side will lose a prelim and want to go hard to fill that deficiency, say it's Sydney and they want josh battle as a free agent. He's already said no to us and we have a top 4 pick as it stands. We if we can add another top 20 pick for a bit of salary cap space we aren't using we'd jump at it. Doesn't need to be a super high pick but I think sides that are just out of reach will sell the farm pick wise to get cap space for another star.I don’t think pick purchasing is going to be the game changer some people are hyped up for.
Someone like the Gold Coast who have been a rabble, over paying kids to retain them, have been the only ones I can think of with both decent picks and salary cap issues. Maybe GWS too with their first round picks they acquire in trades every year.
Outside of that the teams with salary cap issues will be the better teams finishing higher up the ladder with picks that you wouldn’t pay a lot of money for any way.
Potentially we could draft our own version in Josh SmillieWhatever we're gonna offer Bailey Smith, we should put towards a bid on Callahan.
If we have to top it up, that's OK too.
Awesome. Pay lessI don’t think pick purchasing is going to be the game changer some people are hyped up for.

It’s not about being able to buy single digit picks for the most part it’s more about exactly that. Getting teens picks to effectively upgrade seconds to firsts,I don’t think pick purchasing is going to be the game changer some people are hyped up for.

Sounds awfully like Smillie will go Pick 1.Potentially we could draft our own version in Josh Smillie

Not me. I want Finn OSullivan so happy to take pick 2 after north take Smillie to ensure they field 21 midfielders and Larkey going forward. There’d be a sad little enclave of posters hoping we have pick 1 I’d wager.
looks a big lumbering type rather than the fast, dynamic, versatile mid.Potentially we could draft our own version in Josh Smillie
Wouldn't call him lumbering at all. He's just ungainly tall kid. A big brute that can extract heap of stoppage ball to release the likes of day, McKenzie Ward Newc etc.. but FOS is a good mover as well .looks a big lumbering type rather than the fast, dynamic, versatile mid.
I've only seen one clip but didn't look to me like someone we needed to prioritise.
Amazing how people would throw a massive contract at Callaghan without thinking yet we have people on this forum talking about Ward as a wasted pick. This is the comparison between the two.I mentioned Finn Callaghan on here a couple days ago half joking but he's someone I'd be comfortable offering big $$$ and draft capital to get across. Gun.

Mate, there's nothing wrong with Ward. People just jumping at shadows. The kid's been quite good , mostly, and at 20 yrs of age, he has over a decade of football in front of him.Amazing how people would throw a massive contract at Callaghan without thinking yet we have people on this forum talking about Ward as a wasted pick. This is the comparison between the two.

i'm an admire Ward and have consistently defended his progress.Amazing how people would throw a massive contract at Callaghan without thinking yet we have people on this forum talking about Ward as a wasted pick. This is the comparison between the two.

The same people would be melting over us “wasting a gun pick” on getting O’Callaghan the moment he misses a handball and doesn’t get 35 touches and 3 goals in Rd 1.Amazing how people would throw a massive contract at Callaghan without thinking yet we have people on this forum talking about Ward as a wasted pick. This is the comparison between the two.

Some very good points you make.Disagree, end of the year a side will lose a prelim and want to go hard to fill that deficiency, say it's Sydney and they want josh battle as a free agent. We got lucky in 2012 with Lake taking unders to come to us but could have easily been outside salary cap reach for us even though trade value was low.
then imagine if we could have giving up our pick 18 in 2013 for extra cap space to keep buddy.
For our list build I think we have the perfect age and right players to gradually add through a few drafts and cheap trades along with development to push to be a top 4 side. My main concern is that when we are peaking Gold Coast and North Melbourne will be too and they've both had far more access to talent and we can't rely un them shitting the bed, they both have great coaches now too. Tasmania will come in and raid sides of talent too.
I'd say by 2027 draft and 2028 which will be the affected drafts we won't be bottom 4 we'll be expecting finals so won't be a huge impact. We would be looking at free agency and trade hard at that point. Hopefully all the talent at gold coast will cause cap pressure and we can weaken them and pick up a star through free agency. Because as it stands I'm expecting them to play and win multiple grand finals and we may have to settle for being the west coast that snagged one when Richmond choked in the prelim.
