I think we've actually had good success rehabilitating knees to be honest. Hipwood, Rayner & Ashcroft have all returned strongly. Doedee was unfortunate but did the bulk of rehab with the Crows. The ACLs themselves don't really point to bad conditioning - they were very unlucky and weren't all identical.

Can we do more to prevent knee injuries? Probably. Realistically, players also need to ensure they do what the medicos and sports science guys tell them to do. Nobody enjoys knee conditioning (I do it twice a week and hate it), but it's a necessary evil.

I hurt my knee bad when I was like 11 and never really did the physio work when I was young. Still is a lot weaker over a decade later.

I thought his main concern in the last couple of years was an ankle for some reason.

The legs and their muscles can cause problems further up or down itself because of other injuries. So his knee could cause other problems if it’s never really fully fixed.

Just mentioned here how one of my knees is weaker than the other. You’ll never guess which foot I develop plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonopathy on.

Highly recommend a slant board. You can absolutely strengthen knees as you get older. Maybe not when you're as old as old man Elixuh but most of us have hope!

Does the recruitment of Day indicate that we’re gearing up for a big name KPF next year and/or that we’re confident we can land one?

It indicates we had no draft capital to pry someone out and there were no attractive FAs available. We may have to do the same thing next year but I'd expect our entire list focus for the next 12 months is going to be centered around a Joe replacement and potentially a new ruck.

I actually think we would already have Fogarty on our list had his form not taken off overnight in 2023. Adelaide has put a lot of work into him to I think convince him to stay - especially around leadership roles etc.

All clubs would always be on the lookout for good/very good players to complement their list.
We probably have a few on our radar but that is a long way off. Let's see how 2025 turns out with who we have.

Day comes to a different club environment, and it will be interesting to see how that unfolds.
I think going with just Hippy and Morris we would struggle.
So, one of Day, Smith, Gardiner. I am not keen on Ryan. Lloyd i would want to see where he plays in the VFL.
If we get 5 on the bench i would go Smith as ruck/forward relief and one of Day/Gardiner
Doedee may even get a go at playing forward

Gallop who would know, he has 12 months to show what he can produce.

Definitely, IMO balancing exercises are the best for knees and ankles, wobble/balance boards are good(not the same as slant boards but somewhat similar), I have posted about him before in The Den but I like the knees over toes guy, short sample of him >

I think it's been confirmed the interchange arrangements will be the same next year as they've been for the last couple.

Levi Ashcroft obviously takes number 10. Do we think there’s anyone like Fletcher who will look to take 3? Wilmot?

What do the others take? Marshall for 20 in Black’s old number? Day for 14 and Gallop for 17?

Will be very surprised if Wilmot gives up #44.

Would be weird if he did considering that's his Dad's number from when he played with Collingwood.
I thought it was a Lappin homage so now I somehow think less of him. ;)

Speaking of Darcy - how good has he become since his debut in a cut-throat final. So courageous and reliable, week in, week out. Full credit to our recruiting team.
