Would love to sit next to with whoever voted for Berry and McCluggage to be delisted this year as I reckon we have some Lions matches that need to be re-watched again and again ;)

Hipwood was clearly playing injured in last month and half. At his best he is still a very dangerous forward. He has kicked 6 goals in a match on several occasions.

Daniher retiring is obviously not ideal. But it could be the making of Hippy. I have always maintained he plays his best footy at Full Forward. He is quick and leads quite well. I remember the night Joey missed the final against the Dees with the impending birth of his child and Hippy went deep forward and played a ripping game in second half that turned the tide.

I would be inclined to play him deep forward and have Day - Morris - Rayner - Ah Chee and Lohman as the lead up kicks around wing half forward.

Agree that Hipwood has been a good contributor in his role as the second tall. I do like him higher up the ground, where he has the option to use his pace to lead up and double back so it will be interesting how he does as the main target next year.

There’s no question elements of his game need improving like goal kicking and decision making (some recent ones which I think have stuck in some people’s minds) but given where he’s at in his career it’s probably just him. Still, of all the players drafted over 200cm few make it as key forwards who can kick 35-40 goals a year. We are fortunate to have him.

Jaxon Prior seems to have missed being picked up by Essendon as mooted as a likely possibility...maybe a "train on" selection yet to come?
Twomey said Jaxon and Quentin Narkle (ex Port) will be picked up by other clubs as SSP and were never being picked up today with Jaxon likely to go Essendon although I have read somewhere of Eagles having a small interest. No idea where Narkle ends up, Freo perhaps?

Another Suns "discard" comes on board ................ good, we have an excellent record with those !!!!

(Dane Zorko and Jared Lyons say "Hi")

Taylor Smith, Dee Heslop, Ellie Hampson from the Women's team also.

+ Callum Ah Chee. :D

I didn't include him because I regarded him as a trade "steal" rather than a "picked up discard".
But on reflection, if you're let go via a trade (especially if it wasn't a "go home" trade), then I guess you have been discarded ........ point taken!!

I know Zorko was technically a trade .... but a very different one given that he never really got an opportunity to be on their list ......... (and for 4 years in a row).

Long may the "Curse of Zorko" continue ...................:D

Mmm... I guess if there's any gaps in the resumés of our strength and conditioning gurus, it's with knees...

I think we've actually had good success rehabilitating knees to be honest. Hipwood, Rayner & Ashcroft have all returned strongly. Doedee was unfortunate but did the bulk of rehab with the Crows. The ACLs themselves don't really point to bad conditioning - they were very unlucky and weren't all identical.

Can we do more to prevent knee injuries? Probably. Realistically, players also need to ensure they do what the medicos and sports science guys tell them to do. Nobody enjoys knee conditioning (I do it twice a week and hate it), but it's a necessary evil.

Out of curiosity; what is exactly knee conditioning? Is it certain exercises / rehab?

To be honest it probably needs more work industry-wide. All the stats seem to show they occur more regularly earlier in seasons and more regularly to women. I think the "why" is gradually becoming better understood, so I guess the next step is being better at the "how" to prevent them from happening.

Strength focused exercises that focus on the muscles and ligaments around the knee. I personally use a slant board and load with weighted squats and lunges along with balanced step downs and jumping. I'm sure the players have a very tailored system for this sort of thing.

Wouldn't surprise me if the why is making sure players adhere to their program tbh.

I thought his main concern in the last couple of years was an ankle for some reason.
