There’s always a slider or two in every draft that clubs will want to get in front of other clubs so they can acquire the desired player.
How would a slider happen by say pick 3 if we are lucky enough to get Levi at 3.

The fact we may have a club or 2 interested in trading pick 27 before pick 1-3 on draft night is our best chance to take multiple picks exceeding pick 27 points.
Assuming those clubs exists.

2022 draft is a good example. When Will Ashcroft didn't go pick 1, we did these 2 live trades before pick 2 was read out.

TRADES COMPLETED DURING 2022 AFL DRAFT
1. Brisbane gets 41, 50, 52 and 63 - Hawthorn gets 36 and future Round 3
2. Brisbane gets 40 - North Melbourne gets 63 and future Round 3

Yep, for example. Trading 27 to the Giants for 37, 53 and 56 on the night. Which would gain an extra 207 points
But again, we are still down 21 points in that scenario given we lost 228 points in that Saints trade.

I just don't see us trying to make up a net loss in points on the night given we had no need to make today's trade with the Saints with less draft picks.

Can take only the same number of picks as you have list spots. Obviously knew we had something coming in for Sharp and potentially Dev too. Losing 21 points to allow us to carry an extra pick means you will have a net gain.

Looking at 2020 off season player acquisitions and only Henry Smith (pick 48 remains) following Joe and Jimmy Madden's (24) and Nakia's (23) retirements, Sharp being traded today and Blake Coleman (pick 24) being delisted last year.

Hopefully Henry can have a long career at the Lions and be the only stayer of the bunch.

21 points are meaningless for Ashcroft and Marshall. for example if you take that as a deficit against any pick it won't be a jot of difference because it's less than the gap between picks.

The key trades waiting to be done on Deadline Day

Deven Robertson
Having turned down interest from West Coast last year, Robertson is again looking for a new home having struggled to break into Brisbane's side this year. The Eagles have expressed an interest again, but have had bigger fish to fry so far in the trade period.
Jaxon Prior
Having played just four games for Brisbane this year, Prior is coming out of contract but has attracted interest from Essendon. The Bombers will likely look to sign him as a delisted free agent after the trade period.

Finalizing list spots dates. There are 2 dates in 2024.

After trade period
31st October each year or a date determined by the AFL.
The 31st is a Thursday this year so probably stays that date.

Before national draft
The next one is 14th November each year or a date determined by the AFL.
The 14th is also a Thursday so probably stays the same.

Maybe the club knows more than we do? 🤔
