Houston helps with ball movement.

Aleer helps Weitering improve marginally.

I think both help, but Houston moves the needle further in the short term.

That's assuming a healthy list. If Weitering gets injured, then Aleer has more of an impact

I agree, if the price is right, Houston would be a great get

I think you have missed my point, this isnā€™t the deal he is on now, Charlie was in his 3rd year when we offered him this deal, crazy money for a player who hadnā€™t played consistent footy, it was very much payed on potential.

This deal went against what Gbatman was suggesting is best practice.

Geelong offered Charlie HUGE $$ prior to that 2018 signing. We had to be strong with our offer.

Club did the right thing, obviously.

I find the discussions around McKay interesting

Many of the games I have seen live this year, I have come away with mixed thoughts

At times he is really in the zone, constantly on the move, attacking the contest with a real presence

Other times, he seems to give up on an aerial contest or not attack that contest with real commitment

That's reasonable.
I see a decent plug & play defensive option having a greater impact than that though.
The ability to win more one on ones has a pretty significant knock on effect. Rather than hedging their bets, it frees up Saad, McGovern & Weiters to play more assertively & offer significant punch from D50.

It's an interesting debate

At the same level of quality, I'd generally lean to a spine player.

Is there a viable gettable KPD, at the level of Houston this year? Not so sure

Of course cost comes into play

Harry had a terrific year. Will be top 5 in our B&F.

Heā€™s good, but like the majority of KPP, his value is overrated. TDK appears on track to be far more influential (than any of our KPPs imo), and a lot of that comes down to will and courage. He will likely be worth the $.

We have too much money tied up in KPPs imo and weā€™re getting only average returns.

It seems you're likely to gain more of a placeholder style option & still need to develop your own longer term option.
I know that as a general rule, you don't say no to quality so outlay has a significant say but I see another HBF (acknowledging some positional flex), as a nice but non-essential acquisition, given where our list is at.

Someone just posted that, Young, Kennedy and Cerra have been told they can explore other opportunities

If true, in Young's case, it would mean we would have a ready made type already lined up

One of our issues is ball retention. Having player who consistently hit the target is essential.

Would be shocked if that is true re Cerra, the other 2 make sense.

The only rider on Cerra is if something is still stirring in the background re Petracca

We were sitting top 2 mostly without any impact from Cerra.

If we can shop him around for another decent first rounder, I wouldn't mind it.

That ā€˜someoneā€™ posted this on another social media forum. Unknown if true.

Iā€™d suggest it is purely speculation.

Young had a very good end to the season, is 24 years old and plays in a position we have no depth in.

Kennedy speculation rife re being subbed in our final. Played 22 games.

Cerra lost form, fitness and confidence due to ongoing hamstring injuries. The club has sent him to Qatar for specialist treatment.

I call BS.

I can't comment on the validity of the information, not on TC

I just checked deano35 on TC has been around awhile and has more hits than misses over the years if I recall correctly ā€¦

Sam Taylor 28,
Cal Brown cat b rookie,
Peatling mid season rookie. Plenty of hits there outside the first round
Getting a good player in the second round isn't that crazy.

But Peatling and Brown are both great picks

No hype because of Vic bias or is he an in between size?
194cm measurement taken pre season for a growing boy younger than most of his draft class. Take a look at the WA championship games.

Yep, being WA boy certainly takes out the Viccentric bias in the media.

Will not be an in between size. 194cm itself is tall enough for the right style of player, but will be surprised if doesnā€™t end up 197 or better (birthday 28/12)

All Australian.

We have a hole in a 2nd key defender.. Not enough noise has been made by the club about the fact we had this piece until the AFL robbed us of Liam Jones, we just rolled over on this far too easily and the fact we received no compensation is a disgrace especially when he joined another club..
Robbed us, Jobes had a choice and made it.

We then let him go, which was disappointing.

We did get compo for Jones

Berry/Lyndsay, Dennis, Campos, Boyd

Houston, Rosas/Konstanty, mature KPD

Solid if we can pull it off
Reckon you may have gone one too many....can't see how we get Berry/Lyndsay AND Dennis if we're trading away our f1 as part of the Houston trade. Anyway, here's my Xmas stocking list:

1st rounder - Berry/Lindsay/Dennis
FA's - Rosas and Haynes
Trade - Houston
F/S - Ben and Lucas
Rookie - McMahon/McCartin

Total of 7 inclusions.

Rosas isnā€™t FA, will need to trade
