Game Day 2024 Trade Period - Lian Yu - that liminal space between trade and draft.

Snuffaluphagus still nothing about Knobel.

Reckon he’s just unsigned in case we need him as trade bait tbh.

There’s zero point delisting him but if it gets us over the line in getting a best 22 player we just except we need to draft a young ruck some time in the next 12-14 months.

Always thought Emmett was the guy they’d demote to the rookie list if needed for list space. Don’t know why it’s not Oscar McDonald but whatever.

I’m not against not delisting anyone else and using every list position we have left after trade period on picks at the National Draft. It would require delisting and rookie listing one or two players. If someone was stupid enough to take Will Brodie off us I’d be very very comfortable doing this - as it stands I think we’re at least one pick short on what I’m comfortable with (assuming only Bolton comes in).

At worst I can see Brayshaw putting off signing an extension to see how we go next year. If it's same old same old he might say enoughs enough but I just can't see it.

Our finish to the season might have swayed Baker to go to the other team. It was pretty bad.

Worse than the OOFTIT's effort against a Carlton reserves side?

He would have signed already if he was 100% staying, i reckon definitely a flight risk.
Melbourne
North
St Kilda
Essendon

all cashed up and there will be massive offers coming his way
being a free agent wouldnt surprise to see 6 years @ $9 mil from some of these clubs

When it comes to players being a flight risk I'd have Brayshaw less likely to leave than either Pav or Fyfe were. Doesn't mean it won't happen but there would have to be a pretty seismic shift in club culture and/or his overall satisfaction with his life for him to move. It doesn't exactly fit his personality.

But, you know, being from Victoria and out of contract next year is literally enough for any gutter journalist or shitposter to run with it

Yeah he saw how brave the Eagles were to only be 100 down at half time and thought he wanted some of that.
Well I think in his heart he always wanted WC for sentimental reasons but we were in it. Young top 4 team on the rise but our last month might have have tipped him towards the seagulls.

Yep. Look at most clubs and there’s probably 4-5 pretty decent to good players that are out of contract in 2025 and not just guys that are a possibility to retire.

If anything we’re lower in numbers in regard than most.

This year Darcy and Cox were the big signatures but were re-signed before round one happened.

It’s really just Brayshaw and Pearce for us tbh. Maybe Sharp and Erasmus if I want to be generous. The rest are decisions for player and/or club towards the end of the year.

Is it too late to try entice Joe Richards? Pickett apparently not happening, Martin to Geelong and we are showing zero interest in Garcia. Do we make Richie Rich an offer he can’t refuse. Think we’ve set our minds/hearts on bringing in two small fwds. Well I have.

Sounds like it port or pies for him

We were linked to him early in the year but then it narrowed to Port/Collingwood

Well get in there ffs. The only surprise we’ve had in trade week in the last 20 years is grabbing JOM when he looked GWS bound. Obviously that trade has mixed reviews..but we got 3 first rounders, a second and our futures. We have a Coach ooc, CEO on edge and have made finals once since 2015. Why the hell wouldn’t we be aggressive.
