Nah, we arent giving him an out, there was specific claims of him being scared of contact which was complete bullshit. Andy's role previously was the outside link player which is why his numbers were so low, in a now slightly modified role, he's getting more clearances. He's never going to be Cripps or Fyfe but he can get clearances if it's a required part of his role
I missed that. If someone said Andy was scared of contact just go straight to permaban..

Ahh yes, that we agree on, it’s why there’s clearances and there’s “clearances” in my mind. A Luke Jackson clearance for example is often a very different beast to a JOM clearance.
Yeah the difference between Neale & T Mitchell and Fyfe and Mundy. The former two are elite ball winners who rack up huge numbers, and extremely valuable players. But there’s not as large differential on pressure through their possession as the very elite.

Hopefully Woodside stick around. Seems like it will depend on Fremantle though.

We would be foolish to move away from them. Another ten plus years please!

Also the last paragraph is hilarious. Capt Pat who will fly anywhere at the drop of a hat...

I think that's virtue signaling.
yep, 5000 WA people directly earn their livelihood and for their families working for Woodside, probably another 5000+ contractors and as well as many other WA businesses that support them. The state and fed governments make huge dollars off them (660 million in 2022 even before taxes from those individual employees) which pays for our hospitals, roads, dole, middle class welfare, etc.. And we run much of our electricity off their gas to do, well everything including chatting on these websites and charging most of our electric cars at night. It makes such virtue signaling look incredibly hypocritical with few exceptions at worst, or incredibly naive at best. I work in innovation helping a number of companies try to improve the world through new means for 'green' power, as well as try to rid the world of the plastic scourge, and even treat long covid. We've been talking about gas being the necessary transition fuel for 20 years and nothing has changed, regardless of what people rage about on socials for 5 minutes to make them feel like they are making the world a better place before going back to their normal (and using Woodside's gas to do it).

I think its just someone wanting the club to do what is best for the club with no agenda and the pile on from the comment is virtue signalling in the opposite direction. Even though what Big Animal said has some truth to it.
The original comment could definitely be interpreted as leaning a certain way, did we also suggest appropriate due diligence on Programmed or now Bank West?

I do however think there's nothing sacrosanct about a specific sponsor.

Having said that cutting a sponsor because of a vocal minority isn't great business, there will inevitably be the next target.
The club already hasn't exactly been supportive so it's a fine line to tread.

If people are serious about climate change solutions they need to push the government. The changes you make on a business or individual level while helpful, are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Good examples. Even these great innovators showed that you can improve the world without immediately cancelling the current technology which is entirely necessary at the time as innovation is rarely a quick process to something new and great. Market forces will do that organically. Thank goodness they didn't cancel the match makers before the light bulb was eventually ready for the market.
The 2020's cancellators have a lot to learn from history.

The only question is, does it still need to be the way it is?
The current feed into the grid of solar and wind is nowhere near a level to be able to handle the power requirements of this state.
Muja is still the primary provider of electricity.

Added to, how do you think wind and solar is being manufactured? It requires oil, steel, power etc. And the waste is something not talked about near enough.

Still feel nuclear is the way forward, just everyone sees Chernobyl and Japan and freaks out.

Depends on who you listen to as to whether the transition could be quicker than what it is. Some alternative media you can't believe any more than the conventional media, so it is murky enough to shut us up for now.

Fun backstory is that after the Russians/Soviets bankrolled the anti-oil lobby in the US to cripple their primary adversary's independence, the oil & gas industry are the ones who financially backed the anti-nuclear movement.

It's worked in Germany. They just replaced 9% of their last nuclear power plant with renewables and bought the rest from coal plants, international nuclear power plants and gas burner generators making their total emissions per delivered kw higher and more expensive for the low cost of half a trillion dollars.

Woodside should be presented with an alternative sponsorship offer Fremantle has received - ideally from a go fund me of motivated people supporting the cause, and challenge Woodside to drastically better their offer.

Hopefully including multiple high paying positions for elite athletes in fields such as "Workplace fitness motivation" via zoom for a twenty minute contact per week.

I think that's virtue signaling.
That is virtue signaling and in the end the company wins as they don't even have to try and sponsor/support the community.
It's bitten the Australian cricket and netball team, do we really want to go down this path 😂😂
Imo bankers and bookmakers are very disappointing public citizens compared to Woodside..

I have had solar panels for 5 years and I still get a decent power bill.
Disappointed but get to smash the aircon all summer.
My electric MX storm bee gets me to work and back 40km and I'm on 45% battery.
I've worked out after 500 full charges and need to replace the lithium battery I would have saved enough from petrol to buy the $.3,500 battery replacement.

If I wasn't getting free electricity from work where I leave my charger I would be out of pocket considerably. At the moment I'm breaking even.
Battery's and solar still have a fair way to go in my opinion.

It's all a little bit meh..😂

There is economy of scale though and you just wonder how hard they really are trying.
