List Mgmt. 2024 National Draft - November 20-21

Fly was spotted at the Willi v Tigers VFL WC match and the theory at the time was that he was taking a look at a prospect. The main candidate was Sam Davidson and whilst he’s more AJ/ Membrey than the tradition KPP I wouldn’t be surprised if we went with him over the more fancied types on this board.
He's more whe - can run and could play anywhere. He'd suit us and I think we'd like him.

All the hype is about talls but here's our oldies likely to be gone in the next few years, it covers most roles:

Ruck forward - Cox
Kpd/interceptor - Howe
CHF - Mihocek
2 Inside mids - Titch, Pendles
Medium forward - Elliott
2 Outside/inside runner - Sidey, Crisp
Swiss army knife - WHE

I'd go best available, but even if drafting for needs, it's still basically best available.

I’d suggest you tone the language down then. Walker is the best KPF Adelaide has ever had meaning he’s one of one in terms of what he offers so as a nuffie when I read that there’s a kid potentially available at our selections that’s a taller clone of him my immediate reaction is that’s bullshit.

FMD you might want to have a word with Kevin Sheehan too then about making player comparisons.

Surely as a footy consuming public, yourself included, we’ve been following the draft long enough to not take comparisons literally. Geez half the players selected will never even genuinely make it as established AFL players.

I'm one of the few that believe a medium forward like Davidson is a much better bet than a speculative KF. There's a few good ones this year and the role is becoming very important if you can get a good one. Davidson makes sense to me

It's the off season and if you don't get the words right it might get scrutinised closer. I knew what you meant by the comparison. Mitchell Lewis went in the 70's and dear went in the 50's, you never know sometimes

And you can play like someone without being anywhere near as good as them.

Not really disagreeing with that, but I'd definitely prefer not to see any 'safe picks' though. You don't want to be picking blokes that end up stuck in the VFL because they lack AFL-level traits.

(Not suggesting Davidson is that).

Richmond currently have 8 picks before our first pick. I think they’ll take Davidson with 1 of their last picks if they want him. Had all this season to work out if he’s 1 they want.

According to the crows board, we have interviewed this kid at his home

But seems to be more of a rookie, not sure you'd pick him in ND
But could be a reason why we got one of those 60's picks

He's quite the beast, very strong hands

You remind me of my maths teacher who promised to pass me as long as I remain silent in class and then failed me. I will not fall for that again, will I?
Straight F's at Wesley College. Still proud of that.
My old man used to bring out my teachers reports to make his friends laugh

Some people need to get a grip, seriously.

Comparing draft prospects to players is subjective. Even players ranked in the 60s get compared to guns.

That doesn't mean they are always right, and people see things differently from others.

It's really more about giving people a rough idea about the type of player a draftee is.

Jay Polkinghorne is my fantasy pick for the Dees. Believe it or not I have him rated in my top 25. He's a key forward with very good marking ability and a solid set shot for goal. Injury robbed him of most of his season but he came home strong featuring in Norwood's SANFL reserves premiership before being BOG in Adelaide's private school grand final. He hails from a country town five hours from South Australia's capital so let's hope Jason Taylor wants to bring in another country SA kid to add to Harry Petty and Kade Chandler. In my opinion, it's a mistake we haven't held a midrange pick to collect at some point in the 40s to try to guarantee his acquisition

Kevin Sheehan -
Tall forward who presents well up forward with strong hands overhead and a natural leap. Has very good fundamentals, including being a neat set shot at goal. Kicked 23 goals in 11 matches split for Norwood at under-18 and reserves levels this season. Was promoted to the reserves after having 16 disposals, taking five marks and kicking four goals in Round 12 and hit the scoreboard in all five matches at reserves level. Is from the small wheatbelt town of Penong on the edge of the Nullarbor Plain, 600 km north-west of Adelaide, and is a boarder at Prince Alfred College.

EB&W post: Jay Clarke - Collingwood won't be offering Tomlinson a contract
Yeah, I posted about that in the news thread
Think they decided that when they signed reef knowing they would change his position

Long as we take Nicholls/West or another KPP

I be fine taking Pokinghorne with our 2nd or 3rd Pick

Sheehan is the absolute worst person you could put forward in defense of your view! He is literally paid to be overtly positive to every conceivable draftee.

Anyway if your preference is to be triggered by my feedback on your point so be it.
