Our timing....with the guy's we got during the trade period means we are in the NOW business.

And it's that reason why Tauru is not a good fit for us right now.

I don't discredit the positives & hype surrounding him but realistically a player like him is gonna take 2-3 years or more before he blossoms into the type of player we think he can be. Remember...we'll have Logue back ready to go for Round 1.

Use pick 2 to get what we deem to be the best midfielder in the draft and he'll be able to show his worth straight away being surrounded by talented players near his age bracket.

As for the Future 1st pick......don't trade it.....use it at next year's draft. Ignore the crap about how next year's draft is gonna be a weaker one. That sh!t gets said this time every year until that draft comes along and then all of sudden it's the best draft ever! #rinseandrepeat

To be fair, 6+18 is a fair deal.

You get the player you want and you get the extra first rounder in a deep first round.

Trainor doesn’t have a draft night invite.

Usually means if he gets taken it’s 15-25 on the night.

Imagine walking away with Tauru and Trainor.

It you end up with multiple picks in the middle/late of the first round - it’s terrible.

The thing I can’t wrap my head around. A club only slides down for a deal when a targets in mind.

7 gets you Tauru.

Unless they offer you 6. Nothing else does.

I don’t think it’s a bias if I think my clubs reported 7+F1 is the best offer.
It lands you the target.

'the target' is surely already landed by virtue of having pick 2, the debate is about what else we get. Your F1 is nice, if we use it next year, but worth little otherwise.

I agree with the 'now' argument - with the recruiting of the senior players, clearly the brains trust have said next year has to see genuine improvement. But it's also for that reason I think the F1 is tradeable, even at a discount - they will want more picks in this year's top 30 to go with 2, and if need be, then look to trade back into 2025 with futures from 2026

That doesn't make much sense unless the 'brains trust' think that whoever they bring in for our F1 will improve our results next year. In this case, maybe the issue is the 'brains trust'.

Exactly. The Saints and Essendon have proven how multiple high end picks are not worth one of the very top picks. The only thing I like about old mates trade hypotheticals is the prospect of death riding St Kilda.

I think we’ve clearly made some moves though, whether that’s with our F1 and/or pick 2. Otherwise why did we open up the list spot re Pink etc.

6+18 is beyond poor

Having had the opportunity to hear our Draft team talk through how this entire period and how it works at a function I can almost guarantee you stavro#4 that whatever the deal is it’s already finalised and agreed.

There is absolutely no way that North made decisions on list spots like Toby Pinks unless they know what’s the trades are.

Whatever you wanna speculate will happen already has, you just gotta wait to hear it on draft night.

That list spot might be for Tomlinson, a Werribee boy, pick 2 and Stevo. You don’t know.

Have a look at every draft for the past twenty years and see how often 2 is a better selection than 6 and 11 combined. If you want a midfielder you would be silly not to do everything possible to get the 2. If you have the Tigers draft hand it’s beyond silly. They might get the deal they want by playing hard ball, we shall see, but the odds say they’ll regret not getting a deal done if we end up holding.

I'd say we'll trade #2 to St.Kilda for 7 + 2025 R1 if that's your offer - Then try to on trade St.Fiddlers 2025 R1 alongside our 2025 R2 to you for 10 & 18 valuing St.Fiddlers 2025 R1 rightfully (to you, not us) at about 5.

It's about even, but you get your second R1 next year which will help in your stalled rebuild after selling the farm this year, for a similar result to 2010. Will you trade in another Reece Conca? Perhaps 2004, when you took Tambling at 4 and Post at 26. There's not that many Dustin Martin's available ever, or Jack Riewoldt's or Trent Cotchin's. But, keep telling yourself there are.
