l have been a Smith fan from way back and Draper has grown on me however l wanted Trainor with our next pick but as we dont have one yet close enough, l think he will be gone before our current next pick...

If Adelaide can conjure something that gives them another pick inside the top #15 l wouldn't mind trading our #2 for their #4 and whatever else they got...No Doubt they want Draper so if Tiggers pick either Lalor or Smith at #1 , Crows pick Draper and Bloos pick FOS then we can still get Smith or Lalor at #4...
I think that would've been our plan from the start, and would've been perfect.......but Crows don't have the F1 or weren't interested. The problem this year is 1 club holding 8 of the first 23, with that club's supporter base desperate to rape and pillage all and sundry, so it's a different game than previous years.
I still stand that I don't think it's a supa-draft.
Next year will be talked up in a different way, like maybe the top 5 is unbelievable then drops off or something. Giving up our F1 for a teens picks would be the ultimate stupidity from us, but who knows, we've got form in death-riding backwards.
It's hilariously North Melbourne that the year we don't need a high pick we have one, and are looking at a sub-standard deal to move back, then the following we've could've already traded out of the only spot we need to be. You can bet ya house that we will come 3rd last, and there will be a monster KPF that goes at pick 3.....it's the North way.
I wouldn't be giving up our F1 this year, AT ALL, if the media(Richmond) are to be believed....unless we are GUARANTEED to be getting one of the 3 players we are obsessed with.

Have tonnes of upside, they are getting slept in particularly Matt who has shown plenty as both a defender and forward.
I watched the states, did not rate their performances one bit. The talls were all rather underwhelming to be quite honest. None really jumped out and said “I AM HERE”

While most of the talls were somewhat inconsistent, I think if you compare it to previous years champs, it shows why so many of the talls are looking like top twenty picks.

Matt Whitlock's performances in the champs were underrated imo. He played a mix of defence and forward and had an impact no matter where he place. I didn't think Jack had a bad champs, thought his game against Metro really showed his potential. 7 marks with 3 contested is nothing to be sneezed at, neither is Shanahan's 3 goal game against Country was impressive too. Armstrong was the most dominant tall in the Metro V Country game as well. Just highlights that all of them have had an impact and that it's going to be hard to separate them.

Matt Whitlock
Vs Metro - 15 disposals, 5 marks (defence)
Vs Allies - 15 disposals, 6 marks, kicked 2 (forward)
Vs WA - 10 disposals, 4 marks - Kept Gerreyen quiet when he played forward.
Vs SA - 16 disposals, 4 marks, (defence) - Kept Tallan Rozenweig to 1 goal.

Jack Whitlock
Vs Metro - 13 disposals, 2 goals, 7 marks
Vs Allies - 15 disposals, 5 marks, kicked 1.0
Vs WA - 18 disposals, 4 marks kicked 0.2, 7 Ho's, 5 clearances
Vs SA - 16 disposals, 4 marks, kicked 1.1

Jobe Shanahan
Vs Country - 16 disposals, 9 marks, kicked 3.1
Vs Metro (wet) - 12 disposals, 6 marks, kicked 0.1
Vs WA - 11 Disposals, 5 marks, kicked 2.1

Harry Armstrong
Vs Country - 9 disposals, 5 marks, kicked 5.0
Vs SA - 10 disposals, 7 marks, kicked 3.2

I understand the sentiment would be awesome however.. Concussions are a massive issue. I would be very surprised if he goes first round because of this. How many has he had? 2 concussions in 24?
Give him a helmet and we can have , Big H , Medium H, and Little H... ;)

Never realised that they didnt have a F1st...So l'm all for keeping our pick#2 and F1st..
If we go into this draft with only Picks #2 and #62 what do we do with the rest of the spots? Do we look at delisted players to fill them or something else?

"If" we end up with the Tiggers #6 and another of their early picks for our pick#2 what players will be a chance to fill the 6 spots...

No particular order..
Smith,
Draper,
Lalor,
FOS,
Smillie, and
Tauru for me.

Also should we look at Armstrong that high up?

l would be happy with any of them for pick #6. What about evryone else?

OK, then take the best tall forward or mid at 2. Richmond can do what they want but they won't get their hands on back to back best players in the top 5.

We're on the final stretch run with the National Draft only a couple of weeks away. Just like last season I'll be producing a series of full season highlights videos for the top prospects, and first up is Sid the kid, the SANFL Sensation Sid Draper.

Extraordinary that he's not a consensus top 3 pick imo.

You look at that skillset, consistency and the character of the bloke, I would've thought its a low probability indeed that this kid ends up being anything less than a star at the top level.

anybody thinking Smillie is the second coming of Pat Cripps needs to have a look at Draper winning the contest ball at 1.12

Your first four are definite top 6 and likely top 4. It gets harder after that. Probably Armstrong and Tauru for me, but Smilie, Langford and Reid also the mix.

Top 5 is guaranteed imo.
Pick 1: Lalor
Pick 2 & Pick 3: will be Draper and FOS depending on who holds pick 2 will determine order
Pick 4: Smith if Adelaide don't trade up for Draper
Pick 5: Langford.

Beyond that it's anyone's guess. Pick 6 is outside the top 5 mids so might be someone like Smilie Reid Lindsay Travaglia Allen or a tall.

And walks straight into round 1.

Got a good rig already and will be a tank when he gets a few years in the system.

yea thats such a great video. im sold on jagga, sid, FOS or langford (come at me). that probably means we will pick lalor. can someone link me to a spectacular highlights video of him?

it's the combination of balance, evasiveness, agility, vision and speed for mine.

His sidestep in congestion reminds me a lot of LDU, but he has vision around the contest like Sheezel.

All with the added benefit of being quick.

I'd be thrilled if we went with him at 2. We can't really lose if we decide to keep it.

That's another thing.

There's less risk with someone like Draper that he'll lose that signature agility after he enters a footy program, because the physique is basically already there.

I wonder whether Jagga's agility will still be there after he adds another 15kg.
