Careful now, I got a week’s ban on Twitter for hateful speech for suggesting someone do exactly that! 🙄

Luckily for you George appears to be asleep at the wheel 😉🤣
Who am I banning now?

Where G exists, the wheel hasn’t been invented yet 🥹

We're still 8 weeks away from those dates, I'd like to think he'd be fit enough to play VFL and gain match fitness there by that point.
There’s only a bit over a month till the season proper..Butler hasn’t had any football training at all this preseason, as he was only running laps prior to his second ankle operation.

Did Hunter Clark or Paddy Dow train at all??
Who impressed most of the first-year players?
Garcia, Shoenmaker and Wilson all looked good, with Hastie’s pace & kicking skills on show.
They’re all a strong chance of debuting this year, along with Collard.
Neither Dow or Clark trained, with Clark running laps & Dow working in the pool.

Hunter seemed to be in good spirits yesterday all things considered…he’s one tough hombres!
It's amazing he is not a bit gun shy after the compound fracture of the nose, broken jaw, now the eye socket fracture.

Don't tell me Hunter isn't tough and doesn't put his head over the ball.

Now listen, I asked you nicely….

25min - 41max degrees on Thursday.
What the hell IS that???
🔥😱
That’s bloody hot, is what it is.

Give yourself an uppercut Dard. FFS.

Jack Hayes is still a couple of weeks away from joining the main group..Dougal Howard will be battling it out with Cordy for senior selection, with Keeler doing his apprenticeship at Sandringham.
will Keeler make it do you think?

Nice tidbit on Hastie, has got less attention in the training reports but looks like he has the attributes to do something!

how about Hotton, do you think he will debut this year? if he doesn't i think he might be in trouble then

Yes I was thinking VFL round 2 (in line with AFL round 4, I believe) to start playing with Sandy. But it will all depend on when he starts running again.

Here is my take on the draftees over the past two years.

Pou - Showed a lot as an under ager last year. Has grown into his body and is looking strong through the core, will fill out over the next couple of preseasons. Could be anything

Van Es - a big strong lad that just can't get a run at it. Not enough info to tell. Once back (in 6 weeks) a year of development

Hotton - over his back injury and is working hard at training. Not outstanding but needs to keep up his work standards. This will be a theme a bit, but personally think he is too small. Really needs to show his attributes in other ways. Like Van Es a year of development. Sneaky chance of a debut if his continues to develop. Basically his first preseason so no pressure.

Keeler - Has all the tools but is still physically underdeveloped. Is finding his feet and learning the game in the backline for this season. Miles of development ahead. Patience required.

Wilson - this years Pou, but with the biggest tank I have seen in one of our mids since Harves. Silky smooth with very tidy skills and a very good game sense and positioning. A very real prospect of debuting early in the season.

Collard - some absolute X factor here. Still small and showed little in early pre season drills. Come match sim last week he was possibly BoG. Was marking everything, had a four bounce run to hit the post, almost took spekky of the year and then kicked truly from 45. All in the space of 5 minutes. Could definitely debut early especially with Butler out.

Garcia - another speedster with very good skills. Never seen a kid so intense. Looks like he has Parkinsons disease with his continual resting bitch face. Never seen him smile. Like Hotton too small at the moment. Needs to develop his body to required standards before having a debut (IMO). Has lots of pace, skill and like I said if intensity is a marker for wanting to play seniors, he will get there.

Hastie - like Hotton and Garcia needs physical development, but another with pace and pretty mature skills for his age. He looks so tidy and assured. If he can develop I think he will make a great backman in the Wilkie mode. A year at Sandy.

Shoenmaker - despite the rumblings by know nothings on here, this kid has the chops to be a senior player. We have heard he got a kick up the arse by the coaches (be that for behaviour, or just attitude, nobody knows). From what I have seen he has responded in the most positive of ways, he was left to do laps by himself, while uninjured as the rest of the list trained. That for a start would have been a bit embarrassing and would have knocked out any big headedness out of him.
Last week he absolutely blitzed Jones and Crouch in repeat 400 metre runs. As saintmike65 said, he looks like he has trimmed down a tad and was moving across the turf very nicely. Yesterday was very involved in match sim/ball movement drills and ran as hard as anyone.
He is a nice mover, has good positioning and as reported a massive booming kick (one step from outside 50 yesterday, post height). His kicking can be huge for us. A year of development at Sandy will do him and us the world of good.

So out of the 9 from the past two years

Seniors
Pou
Wilson
Collard

Possible debut
Garcia
Hotton

Sandy development
Keeler
Hastie
Shoenmaker

Hard to tell because of injury

Van Es

In my opinion, there is not one 'dud' in the group, however some will take time to come on (someone like Keeler may not come on at all, who knows the future) and feel it is a good crop of youngsters to develop and move us forward with the current list.

You forgot caminiti who should be included in these groups.

He likely sits in between seniors and debutants.

I also forgot Collard and Hastie from the initial list.

Was just looking at the draftees from the AFL draft nights, but you are correct, I think Hammer may have a slightly more interrupted season this year. A bit like Coops second. He is still only 19 though so like the others tonnes of time.

Reckon Wilson, Arie, Collard and Garcia will debut this year..
If you see Garcia up close he’s not under developed, particularly for an 18 year old

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but this would be interesting to assess teenage draftees back to 2017 in the same view (after 12-24 months on the list).

Owens, Windhager, NWM - Best 22
Jack Peris - Played a good debut game and I think was cut too early. The club must have seen signs of his football ability plateauing.
Oscar Adams - Wasn't given enough time to come on for a 197cm KPD, had some off field issues I believe (but could be wrong about that).
Tom Highmore - Disposal by foot hampered his career. Was destined to be a GOP as a result, not tall enough for a KPD.
Matt Allison - No decent performances at VFL level in his first 2 years
Max Heath - A long term prospect with no expectations after 24 months.
Ryan Byrnes - Taking a long time to come on, surprised he is being persisted with.
Leo Connolly - Did not hear too much about him during development, didn't stand out at VFL level.
Max King - Best 22
Jack Bytel - Injury ridden, was a prospect that didn't come on (or wasn't given the opportunity).
Hunter Clark - Should have been a core part of the side for a pick 7
Nick Coffield - Injury prone and struggled to prove himself at AFL level (see how he goes at the Bulldogs)
Oscar Clavarino - Never seemed to be a likely prospect
Ben Paton - Injuries aside, if he kept his form prior to breaking his leg would be best 22.

I don't think I've seen the level of excitement and positivity in our current recruits with any of these other draftees.

A bit tough on Byrnes…was a semi regular senior player last year..at pick 50 odd he’s a handy, reliable player
