Thought Philips had a good first hit out given how badly we were beaten out of the middle.

For the 2nd half effort, lets hope its because they have had heavy training loads and were planning on playing exhausted.

Just a practice match and getting away without injuries is the most important thing.
Some young blokes had good cameos in the midfield especially in Q2 but without Day, too much will be left to Newk unless the bigger bodies in Worpel and Nash play a lot better than they did today.
Forward line looked dangerous when the midfield was firing in Q2 but ultimately the midfield was beaten up for most of the game. That left the weak backline exposed and the forward line starved. Not unexpected with largely young midfield against Bont, Libba etc but Newk will need better support when the real stuff starts.

As soon as you have to pull out a line like this you're either:
- too young to be allowed to use an online forum safely
- in deeper than you thought you'd get
- didn't start reading until late primary school
- Weak as piss when it comes to bant
Our flaws were seriously exposed for 3 quarters . A glimpse of what could be in the second.
The Bombers game will be interesting. How often can we play near our best?
Will teams continue to dominate us for extended periods?
If Sis is a non factor our backline is woeful. If our mids don't protect the backline the flood gates will continually be open.

Too early on both but Ward looks very vanilla ATM. Needs to find a way to get involved more which hopefully comes with more experience. Likewise Croc. Looks very good with ball in hand but is in and out of games a bit too much ATM as well. This is where the improvement will come. Ward was at least better than both Worpel and Nash who were horrid. Both don't really have an excuse like our younger guys. Let's hope they both switch it on in 2 weeks and today was an aberration.
Just a not so subtle reminder that our track watchers wear the most rose coloured glasses known to man.

Other than Breust and Newcombe, our more senior players were disappointing. Need a plan B to arrest momentum shifts.
Imagine being that starved of success and in such pathetic need of validation that you'd feel the need to go on to an opposition board and gloat about a game 8 years ago because your minnow afl-underwritten club is winning a meaningkess pre-season match against a side that finished bottom 3 last year. Just embarrassing really.

Still lacking a marking forward to help Lewis, Chol just doesn't have a physical presence to help. Athletic when playing 2nd ruck but as a forward, just not encouraging.
