lots of concerns over the past couple of games going into the season.

Our backline is going to cop some serious floggings this season unfortunately.

I will leave the individuals out of it but we have some serious work to do over the next 2 weeks to get ready to be competitive.
When the ball is walking out of the centre like it did tonight Darcy Moore and Weitering would have had their problems too. Not entirely the backlines fault when the midfield pressure further up the ground is woeful. It was bottom 2 level today the pressure but alas only a practice match.

I missed the 2nd half.
Were there any major changes in personnel or positions that might have contributed to the blow out after half time?

We need high end talent - we just don't have it apart from Jai
This is the big question mark.
Is it there in the kids or not? The jury is still out on most. Re builds can be luck of the draft pick. Cross your fingers.
The biggest certainty is we aren't going to the promised land without a gun full back.

It is hard with compromised drafts. Finished low last 4 years but all our picks get pushed out due to PP, FS or Academy.

Is conor mcdonald wing? every time he gets involved he looks great, would like to see him involved a little mire though.
Should be having a similar impact that Miers does for you guys ATM. Same role. Only difference is Miers has played in consistent sides week to week since he started. McDonald has a higher ceiling no offence so we will wait and see what comes of that.

Ramsden was the ruck in the 4th. I'm prepared to write that off from the midfield perspective.
3rd quarter was disappointing though not being able to stop the run on in the middle

Just happy to not get any injuries, really.

We had some great moments, had some bad ones. Connection to the forward line was hit and miss, but it will only get better.

Phillips looks like he’ll be fine once he gets a bit more of an understanding between him and his teammates.

Frenchy looked great with ball in hand and made time for himself. Ginnivan and Watson will create a lot of goals with Punky.
Newk very good. Hust did some nice things.

Thought we had ruck dominance in the middle for the most part, but couldn’t capitalise on it with Nash and Worpel having down games.

Should have Weddle, Moore, Harry and possibly Gunston into the team for Round 1 which should straighten us up a little and improve our ball movement.

Getting all of Day, Chad and CJ back by Round 5 would be nice too.

Dogs looked pretty good and sharp to me . We looked mostly pretty average.

Its pre season . Think I'll give it a few rounds of the proper stuff before I start hitting the panic button.

We will beat * round 1

Moore, Weddle & Morrison back for that game who are in the top 10 best endurance runners at the club will be a huge boost.

Dogs are clearly a class or two above us on just about every line with a heap more experience to key players, particularly in the midfield. Pressure is on them to have a good year so I’m not too worried about the result.

Clearly we have some weaknesses and things to work on, however, it’s too early to start throwing the baby out with the bathwater. We’ll have a much better picture of where we are at after a month or so.

I still see this as another development year so as long as we see some improvement from last year and continue to get games into our core group of kids, I think we’re in a good spot.
