Trying here for balance across all lines and then minimal round 0 players (with rough plan how to trade the round zero players I would normally have picked straight up)

Anderson becomes Walsh after Round 3. Steele & Guthrie become Daicos and late blooming rookie (may e.hollands or the like) after round 5.....try also to get Tom Greene in for any under performing mid-premo or MacRae (depending what his role is)...thoughts?

Just IMO, but that's a lot of sideways trades you have planned. What if you need to do two rookie corrections in round 3? Do you skip Walsh? Or use a boost to gain an extra 40 points (for one less rookie).

Using your players above, there is no guarantee that Walsh out scores Anderson anyway. And he would need too to justify the trade used.

Yeah, good points.....that's part of the conundrum created by round 0 and early byes...may well still choose to start with some of the players I want from the start...potentially reading too many strategies for dealing with round 0!

Yes it gets hard sorting through all the different opinions available.

seeing quite a few youtubers planning on doing this - not sure I see the merit planning a bye flip in rd 3 either. You need to guarantee the player you are flipping to provides value and the player you are flipping from gets a decent first price rise. What do you do if you have an injured premo to deal with and have missed a couple of key rookies. Why not pick a player who will score roughly the same that doesn't have an early bye and save a trade.

in saying that if Walsh didn't have a rd2 bye he would be in my side.

sure we have extra trades but the are still valuable - plenty of punters ran out early last year and had the likes of Naicos warming the bench in the GF

If you see Walsh as a must-have at that price (I can see why), the best way to get him is to grab someone exclusively to flip to him in Rd 3 IMO

You just burn the boost if you need to, we have 40 trades

I’ve got a similar mindset this year, going cheap in the forward line - although sticking with mostly mid pricers who should definitely play in Harmes & Fyfe etc over straight rookies; unsure on Rachele but he’s in for now, will reassess in preseason games.

Any thoughts?
I don't mind it.
I can see a path where 2 x forward midprice guys work out. But the trade off being you're losing the genuine 12th premo and hoping Rachele becomes just that. I personally don't like gambling on the 400k types. I'd rather see the 4-8 week body of work and pay an extra 50-100k for the sure thing once known, if it eventuates.
To each their own though.

I think he presents good value but not sure he is a must have.

Month to go till the season starts and you can't lock anything in until Rd 1 after seeing how Rd 0 unfolds anyway.
Hard to rustle up a ton of enthusiasm to flick thru options, tbh.

Is Steele cheap because he’s cosplaying as a Grey Street hooker?
No, he's cheap and he's cosplaying as a Grey Street hooker. They can do two things at once, you know.
Sick to death of the pigeonholing, stereotyping and reductionist logic at the core of your question. Players are people, too. And people first 🫶

In legit terms, he had a knee issue, apparently some Achilles grumbles and lost a bit of confidence.
Went ok in the GWS finals loss, 40-odd touches etc..
Very injury prone of late, but he comes cheaper.

Liking this structure for now. Forwards the obvious risk but like most.

Feel like I’m happy with the rookies across each line providing good cover also.

Big PS watch for sure, will probably change a million things by R1.

Thoughts?

Nice team.
My only question with running 3 of the midpricers in the forwardline is are there enough potential pivot options if 1 or quite possibly 2 of Fyfe/Harmes/Billings don't work out?
