Saw this quote from Beveridge

"The way they've picked their emergencies with a midfielder and two small forwards, we sort of anticipate that maybe one of their bigs is coming out - otherwise they are quite tall in their front end"

Interesting that they seem to think a late change is on the cards. That said, he got the make-up of our emergencies wrong - seems to have confused Sam and Corey Durdin!

Not a chance... he's been around for a while, all mind games...

Surprised Hewett hasn't been named, back issues or managing workloads?

Why do you think he might be injured?

When we dropped him it said he was omitted rather than managed, and nothing from injury reports at the club.

Thought he was really hard done by, was certainly playing well enough to keep his spot imo.

It's just getting hard to fit them all in I suppose

Would rather Charlie misses if he’s not right, need him cherry ripe for the business end.

Gonna back Marchy in, just gotta keep his head this time around and make sure he’s ready for that increase in intensity and pace. Gave away too many in the first against North after some time out of the side, and that forward line is 10x more formidable this week. Up to the defensive unit to be solidified and work well together to ensure that doesn’t happen again.

Charlie and Harry should feast tomorrow.
Been a while since they both kicked 5+ goals but tomorrow would be the perfect time.

Dogs defenders in for a pretty rough time trying to stop them. Blues by 34 points :thumbsu:

Not a hope rumour boy, any case of these would do nicely

Wow Jag likes Shiraz , who'd have thunk it. :D

Perhaps it's been to manage his workloads and or being a tad sore

Personally, I see him as our smartest player

I reckon Voss just doesn't want to play Pitto, Hewett, Kennedy and Cerra together. We saw in the Melbourne game Hewett was sub for that too.

Probably sees Kennedy as the more versatile between the two.

I am a little surprised Hewett doesn't fit into the team. I don't think it's managed, was supposed to play VFL but was pulled as emergency last week, picked as sub the week before, will likely play VFL this week.

I think it's because Cerra is back and Hollands is playing a bigger part in our midfield. I know I have often said Cripps, Kennedy and Hewett is too slow but I feel we were doing a good job splitting them up.

I was hoping we were going to play Cerra forward a bit and keep Hewett in. Cottrell has come in instead of this idea.

Personally a half forward line where Cerra, Hollands Williams, Cincotta and Fogarty rotate through there is appealing. I don't think we are getting the best out of Cerra playing him purely on the ball.

Kennedy ahead of Hewett, it's part form and part because he can go forward a bit.

Team defence is such a big deal, can't have too many failing to get behind the ball and you need to be fast with endurance to do it. Also need pace for pressure. Problem is that means we are playing players who don't have great football ability.

Hewett as sub doesn't really work. Sub is a specialist position, in our side it's best if it's a small forward who can have a big impact. Motlop or Martin would be good. Hewett is not a great sub.

If we can start the game much like we did v GWS as well as how port started against the Dogs we should be able to keep that arms length this week on the marvel deck.

While our start against GWS was great on the scoreboard, it was largely bruise free by both sides

They lifted their intensity and we were 2nd to the contest and or didn't impact the disputed ball

sub comes from one of the 5 named on the bench, right? That's why the 18 initially named on field appear a little strange, as they're forcing them into the 'safe' 18 vs leaving the remaining 5 for the sub choice
Normally yes that's the case, but I don't believe there is a hard/fast rule that says it has to come from those named on the bench when teams are first announced. It all comes down to the team list submitted 60-90 mins before the start of the game.

There was a game a few weeks back where someone named "on the field" ended up being the starting sub, cant remember who it was exactly, I just remember because it affected a fantasy footy matchup I was part of that weekend

Morrison was named on field for Hawthorn last weekend but was sub - happening more and more this season.

I think the stats from the First Crack preview show why Pitt is in this week.

Dogs
#1 team scoring from stoppage
#1 team scoring from F50 stoppage

Blues
#17 team defending scores from stoppage
#18 team defending scores from D50 stoppage

We know we are a better team at stoppage with Pitto in the team but it hurts our turnover work.
I think the coaches are making sure we don't get smashed at the source this week - horses for courses and all that.

I really don't think anyone has any concerns about Charlie. He had a stinker. It happens. Sacred cow stuff.

I don't like our team selection at the moment.

Cunners and Mots have a lot more up side than a few who are keeping their spots and it just looks like playing favourites.

Pitto back makes absolutely no sense on any level.

TDK was the highest rated player in the comp for 4 weeks without him there. 1 down game and we throw pitto back in.

It's all feeling risky.

I would suggest there's a strong chance of TDK out Jesse Motlop in. That's what makes the most sense. TDK injured in the first quarter and battled it out maybe still injured this week. Either him or Charlie.
