People shitting on Voss and co seem to forget that no one was taking about sacking coaches in June

Gov, Owies, EH, McKay, Curnow & Motts all missed gettable shots….that’s the game there
Some of us, have been talking about the deficiencies of the coaching group and questionable tactics and selection since his appointment.

Wins cover the cracks.

But in reality since r1 2022, this 1 quarter of football game style has in place.

Led by talent based system.

Totally reliant on Cripps and Weitering, whats changed...?

Unpopular opinion incoming!
Walsh's disposal over the last couple of months has gone seriously AWOL.
Even when we were winning he was liable to making unforced errors.
Is he carrying a worse back injury than we are being told? His disposal is usually pretty good but if you take the blue glasses off for a minute and look at all aspects of our game, it's definitely something I've noticed.
Not saying it's costing us games by any means but it's certainly alarming.

Depth is a huge problem. We have A graders and then it drops off.

Definitely in need of a couple of decent mids with speed and Charlie and Harry need to be better than a moment here and there type players.

Bombing it long happens as the forwards are just not working hard enough and blocking, creating space and leading hard.

This season is done but it just can’t be left to Cripps and Walsh.

Talk of desperation to bring in a key back but look at Collingwood. Moore, a 34 year old Howe and Frampton. It’s not inspiring but if we win it in the middle even just 20% more, we won’t be giving up more than 70 points in a game and we should be scoring more than that with the amount of dollars we are paying out big forwards

I see these as symptoms of bigger problems

I can’t fault any of our smalls. Our game plan doesn’t allow any of them to flourish in open space. Our midfield has been embarrrasing this year. Unless Cripps turns super man mode on it gets resounding beat

It's not all doom and gloom. Really strange game that we should've won comfortably.

Poor kicking, a motivated opponent and some serious pressure lapses all cumulated in a 3 point loss to the reigning premier.

Cripps, Newman, Hewett, Fogarty, Saad, McGovern, Elijah, Acres, Kennedy, Kemp and Weitering can all hold their heads up.
Totally agree.
CFC could have won the game by 30-40 points if they had taken their moments (not missing from the square), not hit the post 3 times and had a fair shake from the officials.

they scored on rebound and we did nothing to stop it. poor strategy.
They score cause umps get scared about big Cox. poor officiating. Some other doggy decisions as well.

filth are getting back to their running gunning game, but our class nearly beat them despite almost no effect from Walsh and King Charlie

Thought we were protecting Cerra's hammies by playing him at HB since his return.

Looks like he will need to head overseas to sort it out, shame for such a young player

My thoughts too. Only reason that half back made sense for him. Fingers crossed he doesn’t end up like Prestia with the ongoing hammies but sadly history isn’t on his side. Remember a guy called Nathan Freeman. Was a huge talent that got cut down with repeat hamstrings. Had to change his running style, saw specialists, did all the right things and still could never get over them. It’s a massive issue with our list already being injury prone.

Pittonet finished with 0 marks and 0 tackles. Not sure how this is even possible as a number one ruck.

Would rather play another mid who can apply pressure and will work their ass off around the ground and go with an undersized mix who split the centre bounces than play someone who is a net negative around the ground in Pitto again.

What little we lose at the contest (\Pitto got annihilated tonight) will be more than made up on.

Okay.

I'm still pretty angry. Cripps played a completely lone hand in the final term to almost get us over the line. Harry was a better ruck option that Pittonet and should be selected as the ruckman next week. Jack Martin is not worth a position in the ones when Zac Williams is fit, and Cerra must come through the twos and demonstrate his body is up to it to ever play ones again.

I ask you, what the **** has happened to our kicking inside forward 50? We've always had hack kicks, but they've not been the only way we go forward. We have Cerra, and Hewitt, and both Hollands, and Saad and Newman and Gov and Boyd; hell, even Cripps has been a deft touch inside front half this season. Tonight, the only way forward was long and high, and they comfortably sat three blokes under the ball every single time.

That we got so close - and I knew we would - when Charlie went off came courtesy of some chaos ball and rotating our small options and ensuring that the midfield knew we were outsided ahead of the ball. They monged and dribbled the ball inside 50, creating chaos ball which suited the smalls and a pressure based approach, and for 6 minutes it worked; cut the margin from 25 points to 4. But for some grand and bizarre reason, Voss goes away from what worked and repositions Charlie inside front half and deposits both Lij and Mots on the bench; two blokes who had kicked a goal in open play that day. That we still managed to generate a shot on goal is in spite of Voss today; that we lost it anyway though is an entire other thing.

Why, in ****'s sake, was McGovern allowed to take that kick???

McGovern had already had his head slammed into the deck in the final term, with a tackle that'll get looked at. He ran head first into someone's knee. He was wobbling all over the place when he first got up, and it should've been clear to all and sundry that he wasn't right.

Why the **** wasn't there a club doctor on site to take him off that ****ing instant? Leave the notion of surrendering the ball to someone not suffering from concussion symptoms allowing them to kick straighter, if Gov was allowed to take his kick whilst suffering from a concussion it puts the entire AFL policy on concussion and head knocks up as the sham it is. Players have even more of an incentive to knock the back of your head in a marking contest now, shove a cheeky forearm when no-one can see at the bottom of a pack or slam your head into the deck.

Ultimately, this season will be a failure if we do not make finals, but it isn't quite one yet. Get matchups against Vic clubs and ensure we don't travel, and we're a red hot crack provided we can turn our form around.

Voss, it's on you, as ever it was.

Yep. Sacking coaches at the drop of a hat has always given the impression of being a stable club and has always lead to sustained success for every club that has done it regularly.
It's not about sacking him at the drop of a hat. We'd be sacking him because he's a terrible coach. We're treading water with Voss in charge and players are regressing under him. We have no system. We're easily scored against. We're slow. Our match selection is a joke. He's just clueless.

Pittonet finished with 0 marks and 0 tackles. Not sure how this is even possible as a number one ruck.

Mirkov had 2 marks and 5 tackles in the VFL today. Went with his 12 disposals and 6 clearances. Might as well give him a run.

I've quite liked Pitt's game in the past, buy I think he's going backwards rapidly.

He used to be a serviceable, if 1 dimensional ruck but now he's not even providing much in the ruck contest.

At this point there's probably no net loss by conceding ruck contests and bringing another ground level player into the centre square and round the ground
