"Brushing a lock of hair", the AFL have now come out and said it was touched and a wrong decision.
if Freo think that decision cost them the game..... think again.

Their style of play (or lack thereof) cost them the game... and will keep costing them games.

We had many players playing pretty badly and still got the job done.

(and wait on, weren't 6 of Freo's 9 goals from frees right in front of goal?)

Running 15kms a game and providing a contest when required is not losing your mojo - I’m not sure Binns would be any better - if Walsh comes in then probably Ollie loses his spot.

When your direct opponent is top 3-4 for the opposition and has over 30 touches you need to be doing way more than chasing tail up and down the ground for 16 kilometres

disagree, if there's a guy in the 2s who's in form and who can play OH's role, he gets a go....

It's pretty clear Ollie has lost his mojo for the moment.
Which guy in the 2s is currently showing better form to play on a wing?

Just keep in mind there is a massive difference in class at both levels

very odd decision to make Owies the sub after he had kicked three the previous week.

He was/is our only SF in good form.
I’m not sure that this is true.
Last week he didn’t kick a goal until nearly half way through the 3rd, when we were 6 goals up and he sharked Harry’s free kick. Went at 58% despite being largely uncontested. Had a single extra pressure act over Durdin who played a quarter less.

Went at 44% against the Tigers, again largely uncontested. His only score involvements were his shots.

The goals are important, but I think they’re flattering his games over the last couple of weeks a bit.

Playing on a north south oval in the middle of the day is stupid. They needed to close the roof so forwards could take marks.

In a snooze fest CC was BOG with 3 goals. Compare that to Brayshaws 30 plus vanilla disposals

midfield got first hands on the ball but then had the fumbles. A part from the last 5 minutes their clearance dominance didn’t hurt.

Brought our C games and still won is a tick for me.

dour, defensive football by freo. Not gonna lose by heaps but also not going to win by heaps. They have high hopes but they’ll likely finish 6-10th.
Freo's centre clearances weren't dour, just clean and consistantly found a loose man.
Their talls were okay, except Jackson faded/TDK got on top??
They probably played too conservatively entering the forward zone and lost it by not enough scoreboard pressure.

Mate, when did u start watching this sport?

Touched kicks in games happen all the time, at all levels. It never gets reviewed EVER, unless it’s a score.

I don’t care if it was touched, the ump didn’t hear it so it didn’t happen.

So call the Waambulance and **** off the port shithole.

Could easily play Binns. Sometimes u need to give a player a taste of the higher level to see what they r capable of / see what you
Need to work on.

Also for Hollands sometimes you need to get it 30 times in the 2s to get your confidence back.

I disagree.

I have been trying with this thought for a few weeks, but I think Pitto might be key to getting our clearance game rolling again.

I think it's worth the shot against Adelaide anyway.

Pitto can't run with ruckmen like Jackson. Jackson had 22 touches and lost the battle against TDK. He would've got 40 against Pitto.

Not sure if its been mentioned in this thread but for any Freo or other opposition supporters in this thread still complaining about the touched kick I implore you to go watch the afl site match replay at 1:57 remaining in the last quarter. Cerra kicks into the forward line and Luke Ryan is blatantly holding Kennedy trying to lead with his arms wrapped around and not even facing the play. That should have been a free kick right in front literally seconds before the missed touched kick. The point is umpire miss obvious frees all the time.

Edit Oh and just to rub it in this was the uncontested mark Treacy should have gobbled up to ice the game lol.

We’re missing Walsh in the guts. I think it would be pretty disappointing to bring him back and play him wing. Especially when Elijah is already out now.

I can’t make an educated call on Binns, but a lot of the feedback seems to be that he’s not quite ready yet.
I doubt that Cincotta or Cow are up to a full game of wing.
If Martin and Motlop were fit, we could play Cotts on the wing, but I think we’re better off having Ollie try to work into form until then.
How about your opponent being in the oppositions best 3 or 4, Jeremy Sharp destroyed him with over 30 touches

Whilst I agree with you teagueyubeauty you need to provide a solution before simply swinging the axe. I'd bring Cincotta in to play down back and bring Boyd up onto a wing. Wouldn't mind seeing Boyd a little further up the ground as he certainly has the speed, the tank, the vision, the disposal, as well as the offensive and defensive skills to play the role. Think our forwards would be licking their lips when he's about to deliver the ball inside 50.

Would rather see people think outside the box somewhat instead of simply "confine a player to a specific role" rather than have the balls to roll the dice. If that doesn't work then shove Newman, Williams or Saad for a game or two up on the wing. Any of those guys are going to give you greater output than young Ollie atm.

And in the next piece of play, Young gets the ball, goes the fend-off on Owies (that’s prior opportunity) tackled, drops the ball on the ground. 2 blatant frees in front of goal not paid in the previous 35 seconds
