Pies form is surprising as i had them pegged as a top four team.

Lost to suns, bombers, dogs and probably now hawks all in quick succession.

Ignoring the ladder they are not a top 8 side imo.

Injuries haven’t helped this year but it’s not that, the players got there flag and are content. No where near the side of the last two years

Imo their game plan was the biggest reason for their success and now it's most likely been analysed all pre-season, plus a decent amount of injuries. Hard to stay at the top.

From i have seen of them recently (not watching todays game) is that if Naicos isn't getting it done then nobody else will.

Yep 100% spot on mate, daicos can’t do it all on his own and he’s getting no help at all. Side is cooked for years to come

Yep, should have really gone him as the safe C choice.
Hasn’t gone. Under 100 all year.
Got greedy and went Bont instead.

TdK won't play the whole year solo ruck. Does he score well enough with Pittonet playing a third/half the games and getting a rest now and then?

TDK is the clear number 1 when fit, and 2 rucks ain't working for Carlton. They are too tall and slow. Pittonet wants to play seniors. I'll be surprised if he's still there next year. Will be in demand.

If Pittonet gets traded he's definitely an option, just not convinced he's up to rucking a full season as number one.

No need to ignore the ladder. They were 12th before this game started. No hunger whatsoever,

Were best team by so far it wasn’t funny last year but then teams worked them out around Round 18 last year and were in some ordinary form heading in to finals. Then won three finals by 12 points combined. Sidey, Steele, Crisp, Howe etc all a year older and tough draw because they won the flag. To get back from a 0-3 start need everything to go well all year.

IMO they’ll bounce back next year, but some tough calls will need to be made on the list in the offseason.

Unless they clean up in FA/trades, they're in for a lot of pain. One of the worst groups of under 24s in the league (Daicos aside)

True. But then you look at some of the other good teams of recent years:

• Geelong: SDK, Dempsey, Holmes, Henry, Bruhn
• Melbourne: Pickett, Rivers, McVee, JVR, Windsor, Tholstrup
• Sydney: Blakey, Gulden, Warner, Rowbottom, McDonald
• Port: Rozee, Butters, Georgiades, JHF, Burgoyne

Cupboard looks pretty bare for the Pies atm.
