We don't fund it properly. The difference between BH Hawks and Casey Demons and Sandy is the money that they pump in. If you pay $500 a game to your non aligned players and you have 20 of them over 20 games it's $200k. We could spend an extra $200k and make it a destination instead of the draft tempter and get a much better result. The wages for a 2 year AFL contract probably come in at $150k.

I think it's just been left to rot as other priorities in the footy department took all our money and attention.

As a development tool it is hugely important. Hopefully Brendan Goddard starts throwing bowls of food around until they give him some coin.

Curious how much of this is Sandringham ‘clearing the decks’ vs all these players leaving to go to better clubs/more money/more opportunities?

Either the club is a trainwreck with rats fleeing a sinking ship. Or we’re ruthless and building a stronger club. Very different narratives

Wasn’t picked up in his draft year, did some pre season sessions with us but I don’t think he got a game with Sandy.
