Mate, your work this season has been unreal.
The pod is a must listen every week, your connection with Sam during press conferences and the information you share on here are bloody brilliant.
Keep up the great work!

Key aspects of this game:

MIDFIELD BATTLE
The midfield battle will be key, if either side gets a dominance in that area they’ll be hard to stop with how dangerous both forward 50s can be.

Dogs are the number one midfield at pressuring and making first possession turn over and effective clearances, it is important to be composed and tough.

Two way workrate and holding the structures will be important, around the ball this is the diamond shape around the contest and outlet options.

BOTH TEAMS FORWARD LINES
The dogs have a dangerous trio of Darcy, JUH and Naughton, they’re tall, athletic, and dangerous. It will be key to maintain a structure to defend them, and for them it’ll be spreading the ground. The dogs also have Weightman a dangerous small forward, aswell as Vandermeer and West if he plays, who is extremely smart.

The Hawks have a deadly force of smalls, who work both ways and kill their men on the spread and linking, but everyone are dangerous and provide xfactor around goals - whilst maintaining elite pressure. Ginnivan, Moore, Watson and MacDonald + Breust will be a couple of handfuls. This is supported by a trio of talls, Gunston smart and incredible as his role offensively and defensively, but Chol/Dear, their competitiveness in the air and at ground level, and overall athletic ability.

THE BACKLINES
The dogs may not be the best defensively, their midfield helps sure up their defense with pressured entries, but one on one the Hawks are confident. The key will be to let Lobb and Jones intercept and feed the ball to Dale and Bramble to run, gun and pierce the zone.

For the Hawks they will be wanting a contest every time, applying pressure to the dogs half backs, and then working the other way to make them defend.

Hawthorns defenders will need to kill the ball aerially and then back themselves, run and gun but to use their elite foot skills to break each zone. Freeing up Sicily will be important and will help the trio of talls.

OVERALL
This will be a cracking contest, and I cannot wait. Rain or not, it’ll be tight. Finals are here and 90K at the G.

I think the Hawks will win by 14.
Newcombe is key for the finals, his last month has been near the best player in the comp.

29 disposals @ 82% DE
13 contested
8.5 clearances (5 CL)
1 goal a game
1.6 goal assists
9.2 score involvements

28 coaches votes over 5 games

Last night I dreamt that in this game we score 123 points. The Bulldogs score was unknown to me. So, a few takeaways from the dream:

1. It wasn’t very helpful for understanding what will happen.

2. 123 points probably wins 19 out of 20 finals. That’s good.

3. 123 points in the wet is top notch scoring. That’s good.

4. Earlier this year, I incorrectly dreamt on the eve of the first Giants game that we lost. We then won. While I was glad, it shows that my record with dream predictions is bad.

5. I once dreamt that I accidentally shot a guy in the chest. Just some random guy. That’s irrelevant to this game. But it still haunts me sometimes.

I’m into it, I’ll be trying my hardest to footy dream tonight, everyone should so we can compare all outcomes into an accurate prediction.

Can’t believe we aren’t on weather watch. It’s actually close to accurate…maybe haha

Weather apps this morning said there was a 20% chance of rain and a maximum of 22. It is presently raining and the feels like temperature is 12.5. The most reliable weather indicator for Melbourne is sticking your head out the window.

You certainly can see the posters in here who are feeling a little anxious about tomorrow night and who quite possibly have just ignored everything that Sam said on 360 earlier this week.

This final is all about our players executing the plan as well and consistently as we have during the year. it’s not about coming up with some three-way player move that unlocks some special play, it’s not about throwing players into new positions, and it’s not about being spooked by the opposition. As Sam outlined, it’s about us playing our way and making the opposition change their way.
Sam wants to see how his game plan stands up in finals and what tweeks he needs to do for 2025 (if we don't salute in 24)

I really want to beat the dogs, a lot of their supporters are already marking this game in books as a W.

They must be bringing in Harmes to do a defensive job on Sicily or Nuke.

I don’t think we are ahead of our timeline in regards to a premiership window, I think we are exactly where we’re supposed to be. Sammy has done great things since taking over and the playing group has completely bought in and walks taller with him at the helm.

Sure Day and Mackenzie are out which isn’t ideal but one thing about this group is that we play a style that is greater then the sum of our parts.

Go Hawks

I dreamt last night that our first final was against the bummers, and it was played in Ballarat. We lost by about 23 points.

What a nightmare...

Even then, it's only good for about 5 minutes.
