After a goaless first quarter and Port being gifted a tonne of frees, we started to turn it around 7 minutes into the 2nd quarter with 4 goals, 2 being gifts from the umps, the umps have been shocking for both sides tbh..... we shouldn't have kicked it randomly into the middle like that, cost us a goal, 9 points down instead of 3...

We are closer than we should be. Port had by far the best of the first half and if not for some really shit umpiring decisions that lead directly to goals they could be much further ahead. Nevertheless we won the quarter and we're well within striking distance. Hopefully the umpire doesn't have a bearing on the result of the game in the second half.

Similar game to the more recent Cats game where they just closed us down and didn’t allow our natural ball movement. The good news is Port aren’t nearly as ruthless as Geelong, but there’s no guarantee they ease up either. They’ve got their tails up.

The game will open up but it’s still going to be an arm wrestle to the end. I still think we can do this but we‘ll have earned it. Go hawks.
