The entire point of him being draft this high was because clubs saw him as a guy with a lot of development to go - hence the label "raw"

You cannot take his current attributes at face value and make any conclusions. None of it is close to the finished product

Also please indulge in some numbers!!!!

Agility test:
Tauru - 8.20 seconds
10th in the rankings - 8.141 seconds
Marcus Bontempelli - 8.59 seconds
Patrick Cripps - 8.57 seconds

For a guy of 193cm and more in a couple years, is that really "not agile enough to be used through the midfield"?

Yeah, I reckon that Jagga was the best player in the draft for 2 years but clubs are looking at 5 years down the road, not right now. Tauru was a late surge for top 20, he's barely even scratched the surface of what he could be. He might be nothing but he could be absolutely unique. His scope for the future is off the charts.

Those are the guys who can be anything though. Havnt had a huge amount of coaching , big physical growth. You want the guys who have lots of development.

Was listening to that interview with his coach who said he's pretty much never done weights or a pre -season.

Im going to be more of a grinch here, but I cant get excited about Tauru's game and are concerned he was over rated at draft time.

Yes he can take a good mark, but apart from that his kicking is below average, he doesnt accumulate and Im worried he will remain one those tweeners. Im concerned he is not really tall or big enough to become a true key positional player and not agile enough to be used through the midfield. I believe if it wasnt for the media hype there would/should have been a number of players considered before him.

Plenty of other clubs rated him highly, so hopefully I am wrong!
that is such a crap call

Ill add to your 'crap call' I didnt rate Tauru in the top 10 and would rather other players (Lindsay, Reid, Allan, Berry & Hynes). I also believe Barrat and Dodson will become more valuable players than Tauru. Obviously nothing changes it is just my opinion.

Thanks for your well thought out and considered response it showed real quality. 😂

We no longer draft shrinking violets so they should embrace expectations
Wrong thread for this, but....

Who's expectations?

Internal club expectations, presumably fully explained AND supported are fine.

Random supporters expressing (questionable?) personal opinions are definitely 'hot takes' rather than legitimate expectations!

Alix Tauru had me at hello…exciting prospect & a lot of kids will get his number on the back of their jumper!

Imagine the three blonde bombers running off HBF. Ari, Trav and Tauru. One out marks you, one out runs you and the other kicks over you.

Uh….bombshells if you must.
Never bombers.

Yeah, I honestly believe that football clubs rely on supporters hope…you’re always going to get the glass half empty ones that enjoy pouring cold water over other’s expectations but this time of year we should get behind our club & enjoy the ride…onward and upward 🤞

So you reckoned Wilks, Sinclair and Roh were shrinking violets?
All for expectations. Travaglia and Tauru are top ten, I am not keen on people writing them off when neither has put a boot on in anger for us and one hasn't even hit the training track.
Expectations yes, but not in December of their first preseason.

If you can’t enter a new season with optimism and hope, well what’s the point really?

If I ever get to that stage, I’ll just give it away.

Gone early with the emotional hedge.
Duly noted.
