Tigers don't care. They won't be using those picks in the draft. Brisbane get their points for Ashcroft. Tiges get a first round pick*
It's a bad deal. Why didn't they trade 32,42,43,45 for the Suns 13, who need draft capital for the Lombard bid. Or at least trade one of those picks into next year. If Brady had made that trade then many of you would have the pitchforks out.

What’s with all the whining about what Brisbane are doing? Ashcroft is a F/S not an academy player. We would be doing the exact same thing if we were in the same position. I get the academy situation is a farce, but this is completely different.

They could, but it looks like the suns pick 13 is going to be involved in their other trades.

About time we just de registered players who refuse to fulfill their contracts. 2 years sounds about right.
100% agree. AFL will need to do something about it quick smart, or else you could have any contracted player just whinge about their current club and go and play where they like. Inaction would set a dangerous precedent.

What a rort for the premiers to get a pick one for those picks. The discount at least needs to go, and no more than two picks bundled.
As Nutjob points out, this is a father-son rather than academy so let's not get too hysterical. But certainly, the bundling of junk picks is on the nose. They should at least have to match from within the same round or within 18 picks of the bid.

they are getting sam marshall via academy

and the complaining is more around the points system

how pick 1 can equate to picks in 30's and 40s

It makes it much harder for the bottom sides to improve when the best kid goes to the premier.

Richmond knocking back the pick slide for Baker is interesting. Presumably, West Coast offered their pick 3 for Baker and pick 6 (which Richmond will get from Gold Coast for Rioli) and no doubt some other pick swaps later. That Richmond were not interested in moving from 1 and 6 to 1 and 3 is informative. They'd rather stick with 1 and 6 and then get a pick around 10 or 11 from Freo for Baker. They seem to be stockpiling as many first rounders as possible rather than going for less picks but at the pointy end. It has to temper hopes that they might want our 2 in exchange for their 6 and something else.
