Kingy was absolutely dead against us trading away Pick 1 before it happened as felt that Cadman was exactly what we needed. I remember him shaking his head in dismay at the thought on First Crack or whatever preview show it was. Said that basically Rawlings should be tied to a chair and not allowed to trade it.
Well to be fair we could do with another KPF right now.

And at the time Tarryn hadn’t gone off the rails so we had another elite mid.

Not a bad call.

My only worry with Cadman is his set shot kicking.
King brothers in the same camp.

Mids, rebound and run are winning most games these days. Sydney, Collingwood, Port dont really have overly impressive tall forward firepower. Any of those 3 clubs are at least a 50/50 to beat say Carlton, Geelong and Brisbane who id consider having the stronger key forwards going around.

We kicked 14 goals to half time last week. Its not the forwards, its how many quality i50s we generate.

Pure wild hypothetical but the Aints really need a shake up, particularly in the guts.

What does it take to get Max King over? Pick 1? Pick 1 and WP?

He's had a very frustrating couple of years and Ross Lyon's style of play will never suit him, especially with their lack of quality in the midfield.

If we want to get silly on a big front-ended deal while we have cap space, that'd be where to go.

I can’t see them ever trading out Max King, their list management will be built around who they need to get the ball to him.

Most of the flags since around the end of Hawthorn's dominance have been won by sides that weren't dependent on big forwards. There's been a few but even Richmond won those GFs because of their mids. And in 2017 they only had JR.

Do you reckon he's got the killer attitude and goal kicking precision to deserve a pick 1 tho?

He's got the physical gifts, but his scoring accuracy is close to 50/50, while his brother is closer to 2/3s (and Larkey's rate).

He's also not exactly defensively impressive.

Definitely some risk but kicked 50+ in 2022 and 47.22 in 2023-4 so accuracy has improved. Hasn't had a good run since with injury (plus playing with St Kilda's slow ball movement).

I just don't think we should be spending a #1 pick on another mid.

Yep he was good before that - must have completed his Caro course
Is still one of the best, he was talking about our drafting as a whole, not one particular pick, he was right is saying we had a lot of opportunities to pick a tall but didn’t

With Larkey 26 this year. Good time to draft a Kpf. Really need to find a deal to pick one up
Trade week will be interesting with Zurhaar, Scott, Ford and Phillips contract situations.
If any choose to leave, can we leverage that to get up the order in that 8-15 range to get one of Faull/Whitlocks/Shanahan/Gerryn in the draft or do we have to split our 1st to get them?
A lesser trade might be going after someone like Gruzewski from GWS, not quite a big key forward but would replace Cam.

Yep could be interesting. Like to hit that 8-15 as well for a tall. Or do you go future 1st to try get 2picks in the 8-15. Come out with FO’S Trainer Whitelock. Thought Gruzewski was originally a back man
