Both of those players will contribute and make us stronger.

But will it be the smartest use of our situation?

I’m not interested in fleecing teams. I’m much more interested in smart trades like the JHF trade where all parties walked away with what they want.

Of course it’s only hope that trading down would happen. From our perspective, where mids should not be a priority, it looks like decent idea. Some teams will see it as pointless. Others with mediocre midfields (Saints, Bombers, Crows, Geelong, Melbourne, even). Others with eyes to the future or NGA opportunities may see a play at hand.

Again, I don’t care about pissibg contests. I care about a marmite identification of talent by our team and a sober execution of a plan to get it.
What is this marmite identification you speak of?

Brayshaw would require some hefty trade currency. Freo have been great to trade with recently so I'm sure we can get something done if that develops.
Pick 2>Brayshaw

Or future 1st (probably another top 3 pick) > Brayshaw.

Only ever possible if he nominates us in the media. How often does this happen, even if we are linked with players?

Brayshaw is only 24 and a former AA. He's worth more than pick 2.

If he was 28 then I'd agree, but you're getting an already developed AA player who is at the start of his prime and a leader.

He went full nuffy the other day when he was talking about us.

I would offer Pick 2 for him. He is already a gun player plus we don't have to spend development time and resources on him.

Interested in how Essendon have a logjam in their midfield.
Yes well depends on your interpretation I suppose . I agree they have a logjam.

We had a “ logjam” at work recently and had to call a plumber. It fyi amd fwiw wasn’t pretty.

Mavis from accounts was very sheepish I might add .

Then throw in a second. We have seen when every Tom, Dick or Harry wants to go to a big VIC side or go home that things dramatically change in the favour of the incoming team, when a team is nominated.

It is NOT going to happen. But if he somehow nominated us in this fantasy, then something like this is fair:

North give: R1 2024, R2 2024, R2025

Freo give: Brayshaw, R2024

Freo recieve 2, (nominally) 19, 18-23 (2025)

North recieve Brayshaw, 25-40 (2025).

If you’re gonna trade pick 2 for Brayshaw, why not just pick Jagga Smith in the draft? Or hope that Phillips can get up to 75% game time? One step up from an honest trier IMO.
